    Description


    Gordon Murray Technologies combines the expertise of visionary designers and engineers to bring disruptive technologies and low environmental impact innovations to the mobility sector.

    Critical to the implementation of iStream Superlight are integral modules and systems engineered by Gordon Murray Technologies which deliver a range of electrical functionalities – these technologies also being scaleable to serve the delivery demands of any specific platform configuration.

    With multiple sites in Shalford, Dunsfold and Warwick, the Gordon Murray Technologies continues to grow with multiple vehicle programmes currently in development.

    As a result, we currently have exciting opportunities for a Senior Engineer to join our Structures Team in Warwick.

    Responsibilities:
    Guide their team across multiple projects and ensure commonality of their specialist area across the business
    Lead and run research and development in their field of expertise and be responsible for developing their field into the future
    Run meetings with the design team and advise where appropriate
    Work with suppliers on technologies, DFM while also setting company standards for quality and inspection
    Write design & test specifications for each project and work with test houses, universities, and partners to deliver current and future technologies

    Experience and Qualifications:
    Experience in composite structural design into vehicle structures.
    Design of bolted joints and lightweight fixation technologies.
    Design of supporting frames external and internal with a good understanding of load paths and light weight design solutions.
    Lateral thinking approach to stiff and light weight structures.
    Experience in mixed materials design for battery structures, composites, aluminium, and steels.
    Thorough knowledge of welding, and spot welding and design of welded joints and junctions. Understanding and design experience for HAZ.
    Experience in casting and extrusion design.
    Good understanding of various types of corrosion of dissimilar materials and preventative measures
    Design using extrusions, pressings, ballistic and composite panels.
    Awareness and good approach to efficient light weight packaging design.
    Knowledge and understanding of relevant Crash legislation for automotive structures.
    Good understanding of CAE simulation for linear and non-linear analysis, including crash, particularly side impact pole and barrier testing.
    Experience of designing Battery structures to R100 regulations for the mechanical integrity and thermal aspects.
    Awareness and understanding of the various materials and processes for sustainability and recycling.
