    Duties


    • Serves as a Security Specialist for Special Operations Command South (SOCSOUTH), responsible for administering the command's Physical, Personnel, Information, and Industrial security programs.
    • Develops long-range security plans and oversees the preparation of security inspection schedules to accomplish activity goals.
    • Responsible for Special Operations Command South's (SOCSOUTH) physical security program, developing procedures and physical measures designed to safeguard personnel and prevent unauthorized access to equipment, facilities, and documents.
    • Develops effective emergency action measures and serves as the lead in planning, coordination of operations, and support of mitigation efforts.
    • Responsible for the overall development, administration, and implementation of Special Operations Command South's (SOCSOUTH) personnel security program IAW DoD and service-specific regulations and policies.
    • Responsible for reviewing, coordinating, and monitoring implementation of policies governing Special Operations Command South (SOCSOUTH) Information Security Program.
    • Acts as the point of contact for Special Operations Command South (SOCSOUTH) Industrial Security Program and matters pertaining to DoD contractors working or visiting SOCSOUTH
    Requirements Conditions of Employment


    • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance based on a T5 investigation/Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
    • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
    • May require Temporary Duty (TDY) travel up to 10% of the time.
    • May be subject to no-notice call-ins during non-duty hours for crisis action, contingency deployments, and other short notice operations.
    • This position has been identified for the Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Certification Program and requires the incumbent obtain Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first two years of employment.
    • Two year trial period may be required.
    • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation

    Specialized experience is defined as experience in developing and implementing a wide range of security concepts or principles which include Personnel Security (PERSEC) and Physical Security (PHYSEC) and experience utilizing at least one of the following: Information Security (INFOSEC) and/ or Industrial Security (INDUSEC)
    This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-11)

    • Security Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled
    Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series
    Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify

    • This announcement is for a term position
    Permanent employees who apply, are selected for, and ultimately accept this position will be converted to a term appointment
    Term positions in DCIPS may be extended up to six years; however, they may be extended an additional two years with Agency approval
    A DCIPS term employee may be eligible for non-competitive conversion to a DCIPS permanent appointment
    To be converted to such an appointment, the employee must: 1
    Be initially selected from an announcement that specifically stated that the individual could be eligible for noncompetitive conversion to a permanent DCIPS appointment at a later date; 2
    Have completed at least two years of continuous service with at least a "Successful" overall evaluation of record; and 3

    Be converted to a permanent DCIPS position in the same work level or grade for which hired may be converted to a higher work level or grade.


    • Position may be filled as a temporary promotion or temporary reassignment NTE 3 years by a current permanent Army DCIPS employee

    Temporary promotions or reassignments may be extended up to a maximum of five years, and may be made permanent without further competition.
