    POSITION SUMMARY:

    EDUCATION/TRAINING:
    At least one year of clerical experience with medical background required. Medical Terminology knowledge required.


    EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

    Successful completion of annual job specific competencies and skill verification tools required.# Strong telephone etiquette, customer service and basic patient care skills preferred.

    Ability to clearly and calmly communicate in English both verbally and in writing with patients, medical staff and the public.

    # Ability to type 35 wpm and proficiency in a variety of computer applications preferred.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
    Prepares patients for treatment and procedures. Explains general prep instructions and provides education in order to minimize anxiety and gain cooperation. Assists patients with dressing for their procedure. Assists patients to/from wheelchairs. Provides safe care to the patient in Medical Imaging Department. Orders the correct patient exam in Meditech. Demonstrates understanding of procedure names and mnemonics.# Prepares daily schedules, per the Central Scheduling Meditech modules.

    Provides the technologist and/or Physician with accurate and timely information regarding patient needs and status and documents information in appropriate records maintaining confidentiality at all times.

    Facilitates communication between ordering physician and patient. Escorts the patient to the consultation room for proper discharge instructions. Coordinates patient admission with bed placement, admitting physician and Medical Imaging Nurse and Transporters. Provides admitting information to all parties as necessary. Replenishes and prepares dressing rooms with necessary supplies maintaining a neat, clean and optimally functioning environment. Utilizes computer system to enter or retrieve accurate demographic patient information. Provides physician offices with requested information following proper release policies.

    Promptly and courteously answers and screens department phone routing callers to appropriate person or providing answers to routine requests for information.

    # Maintains a variety of medical imaging patient and staff schedules ensuring smooth operations of department following established guidelines. # Maintains a variety of records, office equipment and appropriate filing systems respecting confidentiality of position acquired information.

    Functions as a resource for all staff on the proper operation of office equipment, providing assistance and training as necessary.

    # Performs all aspects of care in an environment that optimizes patient and environmental safety and in accordance with applicable laws, regulations and compliance efforts.
