Posting DetailsPosition Information Job Title Visiting Position in Nutrition to Start August 2023 Requisition No Job Description Summary The Nutrition Program in the department of Interdisciplinary Health Sciences in collaboration with the Athletics Department seeks a Visiting Special Instructor with expertise in sports nutrition, nutrition assessment, and counseling.

The Special Instructor will teach nutrition and dietetics courses and provide nutrition and dietary counseling, education, and support for 18 NCAA Division I sport programs and one varsity eSports program.

Candidates must demonstrate experience with or commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Responsibilities within the Nutrition Program include:

Develop and teach core nutrition and dietetics courses within the Nutrition program including Lifecycle Nutrition, Introduction to Nutrition, and Nutritional Assessment MethodsServe as a liaison between OU Athletics and SHS to develop future collaborations including student practicumsParticipate in dietetics accreditation activities and/or committees, as neededMentor students on academic and career pathways in nutrition and dieteticsAttend and participate in program, department, and school meetings and eventsResponsibilities within OU Athletics include:Conduct 1:1 nutrition assessment and provide follow-up with student-athletes on topics including but not limited to: performance enhancement, hydration, weight gain, weight loss/body composition changes, safe supplementation, blood work, injury prevention and healing, campus dining, travel, food allergies/sensitivities, and disordered eating behaviors;Conduct sport-specific team nutrition education sessions;Manage product ordering, inventory, and budgeting for student-athlete fueling station and the men's basketball fueling station, including collaboration and communication with the strength and conditioning staff and team managers;Communicate consistently with athletic trainers and members of the sport performance teams;Abide by NCAA, Conference, and University rules, regulations, and procedure Minimum Qualifications Masters prepared registered dietitian/registered dietitian nutritionist (RD/RDN) with 1-2 years sports nutrition experience and knowledge of NCAA rules regarding dietary supplements and third-party certifications.

Experience with teaching college nutrition courses preferred.
