Job DescriptionSalary: DOEFIBER SPLICER
Michigan Broadband Services is looking for a talented Splicer to join our team. This position is based in Carney, MI, although you will be required to work in other geographical areas that we service. The ideal applicant will be willing to perform physical labor, work efficiently, and must be highly self-motivated. This position offers a highly competitive wage and a full benefit package. Training and tools are provided.
Primary responsibilities include preparing various types of outside plant fiber optic cables for splicing, splicing fiber optic cable, operating fiber optic test equipment (OTDR and power meters) for trouble-shooting purposes, servicing and upgrading various telecommunication services, generating various reports for testing and production, and performing all aspects of the work in accordance with standards and specifications. Previous technical field experience, the ability to read and accurately apply job prints, staking sheets, and splicing details, and computer proficiency are preferred. At least one year of previous splicing experience is also desired. The successful candidate will be a demonstrated self-starter with the ability to prioritize and complete daily work assignments without close supervision, although regular communication regarding the status of various assigned jobs will be required.
Additional minimum requirements include the ability to lift at least 50 pounds, a valid driver's license with a clear 3-year driving record, the ability to work in close and confined spaces, and the ability to perform physically exerting tasks with routine exposure to dust, dirt, wind, and temperature extremes.
Some shift, overtime, weekend work and/or overnight stays will be required.
