General Summary

We are currently seeking a summer Intern for the Construction Department. Newport Construction works on a variety of new construction including multifamily and commercial projects.

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:

• Assist and support the Director and Project Managers on assigned projects.
• Contribute proactively to the project team
• Receive and following directions for project assignments
• Manage own time based on directions given
• Receive, review, forward and track status of submittals
• Prepare, review, track and distribute RFIs
• Assist in preparations of bid packages and procurement
• Track and inspect material deliveries
• Assist in preparation of monthly owner project status reports, as required
• Attend project meetings and record meeting minutes
• Assist in project close-out

Qualifications:

• Must be currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering or other related fields.
• Computer knowledge and efficiency, including Microsoft Office products.
• Broad understanding of industry.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic math/accounting skills.
• Dependability.
• Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times.
• Ability to understand and follow directions.
• Good time management skills and organizational skills.
• Ability to read drawings and specifications.
• Must be detailed oriented and able to work in a team environment.
• Must be able to meet deadlines and work well under pressure.
• Communicates and works professionally with all levels including co-workers, management, clients, etc.
