    Stable FoundationTreat with RespectSafe EnvironmentsEmployee FocusJOB SUMMARYThe Quarry Supervisor is responsible for supervising and managing the performance of day-to-day operational activities which may include pit and/or plant production (primary, secondary, chip plant, wash plant, etc.) as well as plant and mobile equipment maintenance.

    This position will assist the Superintendent and/or Operations Manager in all aspects of his/her duties including, but not limited to, taking a personal role in the continued improvement of the safety program through training and development in accordance with the company's safety policies and procedures, MSHA, and other regulations, cost projections and continuous improvement justifications, hiring, discipline, and performance evaluations for hourly employees, meeting production and cost goals, quality control, and other functions as assigned by management.

    This role works the 2nd shift from 4pm - 4am.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSFollow all company policies and local, state, and federal regulations for safe working proceduresTake a personal role in the safety program by developing relevant topics for catwalk conversations, driving the conversations, and following the program outline in its entiretyPromote and support the plant safety advocate(s) in their dutiesEnsure all hourly employees under his/her area of responsibility receive competent task training to safely perform his/her job dutiesEnsure all safety training is properly documented in a timely mannerComplete all necessary reporting requirements in a timely mannerPromote and enforce attendance requirements, observe employee behavior, and participate in catwalk conversationsSchedule employee duties and adjust to changes during the shift based on production demandsDirectly supervise all daily activities of assigned hourly production, maintenance, and support personnelConduct regular site inspections to ensure all safety, maintenance, and plant cleanup items are addressed correctly and in a timely mannerAssist with screening, interviewing, and hiring hourly personnelConduct positive contact coaching and performance improvement discussions with all hourly employees under his/her area of responsibility and properly document discussions in a timely mannerConstantly evaluate all processes and procedures and give recommendations that will optimize operationsAssist with all environmental reporting and sampling requirementsEnsure all plant and mobile equipment on site are properly maintainedEvaluate and interpret plant and mobile equipment preventative maintenance oil samples and make necessary corrections as neededWork closely with drilling and blasting contractors to plan and coordinate all drilling and blasting operationsWork closely with all vendors as needed to evaluate performance of existing and new productsWork closely with all vendors as needed to develop information for cost justification of capital improvements and optimization of operating processes and proceduresConduct monthly stockpile inventories and adjust inventory balancesRegular, reliable attendance at the worksite or assigned work locationOther duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as neededQUALIFICATIONSEducation & ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredAssociate's degree in a related field with a willingness to obtain a Bachelor's degree in Mining, Engineering, or Construction Management or a Bachelor's degree in Mining, Engineering, or Construction Management preferredAt least 3 years' experience in aggregate mining operations or equivalent other experience requiredPrevious supervisory experience preferredKnowledge, Skills & AbilitiesProven ability to lead others with or without formal reporting authority, with a strong level of confidentialityGood leadership skills and the ability to handle stressful situations in a professional mannerExcellent interpersonal skills and a positive attitude that fosters effective relationshipsHave a positive attitude and proactive approach towards our safety programPossess a safe work historyGeneral understanding of blasting, crushers, screens, conveyors, and associated processing equipmentKnowledge of quality control procedures and ability to make necessary changes to meet gradationsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsGood computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and OutlookGood math skills and ability to figure stockpile volumes, conveyor belt speeds, sheave speeds, etc.

    Strong mechanical aptitudeCurrently possess and maintain a valid driver's license and good driving recordAbility to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to perform duties of positionWillingness and ability to work a flexible schedule, including swing shift, graveyard shift, and weekends as requiredPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSLift objects of various dimensions and up to 100 lbs.
