    Oak Park and River Forest High School, or OPRF, is a comprehensive public high school located in Oak Park, Ill., a suburb eight miles due west of downtown Chicago. We are a one-school district, with the majority of our students coming from two sender districts, River Forest Public Schools District 90 and Oak Park Elementary School District 97. We offer more than 200 courses, a variety of programs for students with special needs, 75 clubs and activities, and 29 competitive sports. We prepare our students well for post-secondary success, with an average ACT composite score of 24 and a 94% graduation rate.

    Position Summary:

    The Director of Technology will lead the District in technology and data strategic planning, budgeting, and implementation of systemwide hardware, software, and web applications. These tasks will occur within an educational setting with supporting infrastructure, information systems services (e.g. Help Desk), Data Systems, and operations. The Director of Technology should have a complete understanding of existing technology platforms in use at OPRFHS and be knowledgeable of future trends and applications as they relate to the educational setting. In addition, the Director of Technology will lead the application of technology for operational efficiencies.

    Essential Responsibilities:
    • Develop the overall technology strategic plan leveraging current technology and investments in new technology which support District goals and make the plan operational.
    • Develop and manage the annual budget for all technology services. Identify cost related efficiencies as appropriate.
    • Lead the Technology Department so that the District and its employees are supported in an efficient, effective, and reliable manner.
    • Develop and implement an annual 5 year rolling plan for improvement and advancement of technology within the District.
    • Support the Director of Instructional Technology and Innovation in the integration of technology for teaching and learning.
    • Determine annual goals in collaboration with the Technology Department staff.
    • Supervise the Technology Department staff and conduct performance reviews according to District policy.
    • Oversee the ongoing development, management, and enhancement of the District network.
    • Develop relationships with other government agencies within Oak Park and River Forest to leverage technology across agencies, particularly Districts 90 and 97.
    • Develop and manage the annual budget for all technology services. Identify cost related efficiencies as appropriate.
    • Lead the Network Systems and Data Systems Departments so that the District and its employees are supported in an efficient, effective, and reliable manner.
    • Seek outside funding for initiatives as appropriate.
    • Develop and update technology disaster recovery and major component failure plans.
    • Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent for Business Services

    Qualifications:
    • 4 year degree in technology required. Advanced degree preferred.
    • Advanced knowledge of all technology in use by the district. 5+ years experience with technology support; Microsoft, Apple and Google products in general and the following products specifically is preferred: Microsoft Windows OS, Microsoft networking, Microsoft AD, Google Applications and Apple hardware and software, Microsoft Excel and Access. 4-5 years experience with database products in general and the following products specifically is preferred: Microsoft SQL Server, Progress databases, and Crystal reporting, Skyward, Naviance and Docufide.
