    We are looking for a dynamic and passionate Infection Control Director to join the Mountainside Team

    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Infection Control Director will be responsible for leading the Infection Control Department in identifying, preventing and controlling outbreaks of communicable diseases.

    Responsibilities

    • Manage to established productivity standards
    • Deliver highest quality and achieve/exceed quality standards for each unit/dept.
    • Attend local APIC chapter meetings, participates in state and national Health Acquired Infections (HAI) reduction projects/programs, acts as a resource for infection control/infectious disease information for community members, physicians and their office staff, health agencies, students and coworkers
    • Collaborate with Materials Management and Nursing Education to identify/implement products to enhance patient care and reduce costs.
    • Identify appropriate isolation precautions based on disease or diagnosis and coordinate with bed control to ensure proper patient placement
    • Participate in environmental tours to ensure compliance with Infection Control guidelines to prevent the spread of infection with on-the-spot education for any non-compliance noted
    • Review positive lab results daily and follow the Center for Disease Control guidelines for determining HAI
    • Document any HAI into AICE Infection Surveillance System & NHSN databases
    • Generate reports based on data and report at the Infection Control Committee
    • Notify health departments as appropriate for any communicable diseases by phone or fax or by reporting through the NJ State Communicable Disease Reporting System (CDRS)
    • Consult in the Infection Control aspect of the employee health program, and initiate/investigate any potential employee exposures to infectious diseases
    • Educate patients, families and staff as needed regarding any information requests they may have as it relates to Infection Control measures
    • Review new guidelines or regulations as available from OSHA, CDC, TJC and NJDHSS and revise policies/implement new guidelines as needed
    • Perform any and all other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    Education & Experience

    • Bachelors degree required, in nursing and microbiology preferred
    • At least 3-5 years of hands on experience in Infection Control
    • At least 2 years of experience in a leadership capacity
    • Current CIC certification preferred

    • Strong foundation of infection prevention knowledge
    • Ability to analyze, interpret and share data
    • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
    • Able to perform infection surveillance
    • Strong organizational skills
    • Ability to work independently
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products, Vendor software systems and Electronic Health Records, Epic experience is a plus
