SQL Server Database Developer

SQL queries are critical components of KCC's innovative RiskInsight platform (). In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring SQL queries, indexes, views, stored procedures are optimized and work seamlessly with other components of the platform. Additional responsibilities include understanding and recommending any changes required to the configuration of SQL Server. Experience in the P&C industry, including experience working with EDM and CEDE data formats is a major plus.

**Responsibilities**

Develop a thorough understanding of the architecture and inner workings of the RiskInsight platform

Optimize SQL queries, indexes, views, and stored procedures

Recommend and lead implementation for improvements to SQL Server configuration

Collaborate with other members of the software development team to ensure SQL Server configuration remains compatible with RiskInsight subsystems

**Required Skills**

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

Enterprise Software development experience

Ability to work with minimal supervision or assistance to complete tasks

Experience working with poorly documented source databases and understanding the source schema through examining the data itself

Demonstrates expert knowledge of T-SQL and stored procedure development

Demonstrates expert knowledge of performance topics including

+ Index/SP/View and query tuning

+ Understanding and overcoming poor execution plans

+ Experience setting up and operating SQL server with limited guidance

Expert level C# including WCF, ASP.Net, Webservices implementation

Building software that is resilient to unanticipated usage in client environments

Software testing (Unit, System, Integration, Functional, Performance)

**Qualifications**

Ability to learn quickly and adapt within a changing environment

Degree in computer science, math, engineering related field, or equivalent experience

Experience (3-5 years) working with large and complex databases using SQL

Experience with an object-oriented language such as C# or Java

Quantitative background (math/science/engineering) a plus
