    Organization Overview:

    The Global Manufacturing and Quality Learning and Development (GMQLD) team provides learning solutions to help Lilly's Manufacturing and Quality organizations achieve our mission of making medicine with safety first and quality always. The Associate Vice President – Global Manufacturing & Quality Learning and Development is the leader of the organization and is responsible for Learning and Development across global Manufacturing and Quality (M&Q) sites and functional areas supporting M&Q, such as central Quality, central Engineering, and central Technical Sciences/Manufacturing Sciences. One primary responsibility includes leading the organization through transformation efforts related to our current GMP training approach to ensure sustainable, standardized processes and mechanisms are in place to provide a strong, foundational, and experiential learning experience so that employees are appropriately qualified to perform their work responsibilities and make medicine with confidence. This role will also be responsible for a broader developmental focus for the organization, including from an individual, leadership, and functional perspective, as well as oversee the central Manufacturing and Quality Learning and Development budget to ensure appropriate planning, tracking, and cost-effectiveness. This position reports to the Human Resources function but maintains a strong connection to the Global Quality function to ensure key compliance objectives are met.

    Responsibilities:

    Learning Strategy:

  • Lead the transformation of the M&Q Learning and Development strategy, including further development and execution of initiatives related to people, processes, and technology, trainer effectiveness, learning effectiveness and measurement, GMP learning standards, content development, process standardization, learning incentives, and learning culture.
  • Provide deep Learning and Development and Quality expertise to evolve the M&Q learning strategy and organization to support the growing manufacturing footprint in a complex, dynamic compliance environment.
  • Partner with and influence manufacturing sites and functions to adopt and sustain standardized processes and structures as part of the transformation to a fit-for-growth organization.
  • Lead the M&Q resources that focus on leadership and employee development in partnership with the Lilly Global Leadership and Employee Development teams. Employee development in M&Q encompasses roles at all levels and may include responsibilities for initiatives specifically aimed at improving the experience of non-exempt (hourly) employees.
  • Serve as the primary M&Q L&D contact with Learning and Development colleagues, Human Resources, and others on enterprise-wide initiatives.
  • Analyze and assess current internal capabilities and evaluate against relevant external benchmarks and business needs to drive priority capability development initiatives.
  • Remove barriers and implement initiatives in support of successful learning strategy development and execution across the breadth of the organization.
  • In partnership with the Manufacturing Lead Team, ensure appropriate resource planning and allocation to deliver the M&Q learning strategy. Learning Operations and Innovation:
  • Collaborate with learning and development networks internally and externally to identify opportunities for innovation.
  • Promote innovative models of learning, including new technologies and learning modalities.
  • Influence business leadership regarding ways to use L&D as a strategic lever for their organization.
  • Ensure processes and priorities are in place for monitoring the effectiveness of L&D activities.
  • Oversee global M&Q L&D requirements and implementation in partnership with site/functional leaders, including managing volume, spending, headcount, and end user impact and create governance processes to demonstrate efficiency improvements and cost effectiveness of L&D business processes.
  • Ensure audit readiness of M&Q L&D systems, processes, and personnel.
  • Work with team members to define and implement the global M&Q L&D strategy for monitoring progress and demonstrating organizational performance via scorecards/dashboards. Basic Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Master's degree preferred, in Instructional Systems Technology, Performance Technology, Adult Learning, Education, Human Resources, or related experience/education.
  • Minimum of ten years of experience leading and operating in a cGMP regulated environment, including knowledge of
  • training requirements, qualification standards, and processes
  • Experience in leading the implementation of a global or large-scale transformation initiative.
  • Demonstrated portfolio/program management skills, including managing large-scale budgets. ​Additional Preferences:

  • Demonstrated ability in communication, conflict resolution, judgment and managing ambiguity for effective results in complex situations.
  • Strong business acumen.
