    Description

    Role - Mechanical Design Engineer (Automated Assembly Equipment)

    Location - St. Charles, Missouri

    Duration -Fulltime

    Job Description

    Objective

    Under the direction of the Engineering Department Manager, the Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for the design semi/fully automated test and assembly equipment.

    Equipment is built and integrated in-house for automotive electronics production assemblies.
    Essential Responsibilities


    • Design semi / fully automated test and assembly equipment for in-house mass production of automotive electronic switches/controllers.
    • Collaborate with multi-functional team to ensure the equipment design meets provided requirements.
    • nalyze GD&T of the products to be tested/assembled to properly design interfacing fixtures
    • Create and release BOM for the equipment to procurement group
    • Provide support to the equipment build group throughout build process
    • Use analytical methods to identify failures and determine the most effective course of action
    • Oversee projects simultaneously at different design and production stages
    • Change priorities based on business requirements

    Experience:

    • Experience designing/developing automated machinery (preferable electronic enclosures)
    • Experience with Autodesk Inventor
    • Proficiency using SolidWorks modeling 3D CAD design software
    • Experience with heat transfer, stress, vibration, sealing
    • dditional experience with CATIA preferred.
    • Prior work within the electronics or manufacturing industry preferred
    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities


    • Strong mechanical aptitude/ability to conceptualize and create mechanical designs
    • Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerances per ASME/ANSI.
    • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Project)
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with specific ability to write at a professional and technical level
    • Organized and detail-oriented
    • Desire to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
    • Strong communication skills
    • This position requires the occasional use of basic hand tools
    • This position requires standing, sitting, walking, bending, kneeling and stooping for long lengths of time

    Education:
    Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering

    Travel Required:
    Negligible
