    Education: Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's (4-year) degree in engineering or a related technical field. A degree in metallurgical/materials engineering is preferred. A background in industrial Automation also preferred.

    Additional Information: Minimum qualifications include 3-5 years metal rolling experience.

    Major Responsibilities:

    Expectation is that the incumbent will:
    • Possess experience in designing, monitoring, and optimizing Cold Rolling processes.
    • Possess experience in applied statistical techniques, such as those typically incorporated into Green/Black Belt certification, or Certified Quality Engineer certification.
    • Possess experience in data collection, analysis, and interpretation. Specifically, through iba analyzer.
    Necessary skills include:
    • Experience with applied statistics and associated software tools,
    • Experience with Logan Aluminum data collection, analysis, and SPC systems,
    • Experience working with Siemens S7 and CFC programming,
    • Experience troubleshooting Mill Gauge controllers and X-ray technologies
    • General understanding of upstream Hot Rolling processes and downstream Finishing processes
    • Experience with process vibration analysis and troubleshooting
    • Experience in developing and facilitating training to cover a wide range of technical topics,
    • Experience in facilitation of problem solving sessions,
    • A passion for excellence, and attention to detail,
    • A commitment to the ISO methodology of plan, do, check, act,
    • The ability to communicate at all levels of the organization, and to represent Logan Aluminum to customers, suppliers, and other business associates,
    • The ability to work with minimal supervision.
    Position Accountabilities:
    • Work within the Logan Team Concept.
    • Establish cooperative relationships with Associates, customers, suppliers, and internal operating units.
    • Maintain responsibility for improvements in gauge nominal, gauge bandwidth, and strip break performance.
    • Monitor physical properties and other associated critical input and output variables for assigned product.
    • Lead efforts to resolve defects that cross unit boundaries or are of an uncertain or complicated origin.
    • Provide product development leadership regarding alloys and processing parameters to achieve desired results.
    • Review product trials for processing suitability.
    • Provide leadership in the use of statistical tools for process control and problem solving.
    • Assist operating units in data analysis as requested.
    • Assess planned process changes for impact on final product characteristics.
    • Support the overall plant-wide effort for continuous improvement.
    • Provide coaching and support to all levels of the organization for process control and improvement activities (e.g. project selection, execution of projects, training, strategic planning, etc.).
    • Provide routine updates to the organization regarding process outputs.
    • Assist the organization in identifying further quality and process improvement opportunities.
    • Lead project teams to execute and successfully complete assigned projects as a part of a larger process control or improvement effort.
    • Develop understanding of end customer processes, and how Logan products interact with those processes.
    Essential Physical, Sensory, and Mental Requirements
    • May sit 3, stand 3 and walk 2 hours daily,
    • May stoop, climb, kneel, or use ladders and stairs daily,
    • May lift up to, and sometimes more than, 50 lbs.
    • Will use computer and telephone daily,
    • Will work under a high level of time pressure,
    • May work on unleveled, unstable slippery surfaces,
    • Must possess good vision, hearing, and speaking ability,
    • Must read, write, measure, draw conclusions, create methods, conduct research, develop plans, direct and evaluate others, and perform mathematical calculations.
    • Will work indoors at a desk, daily,
    • Chemicals, vibration, extreme heat and cold, dirt, fumes and noise are typical daily surroundings.
