At this level one trauma center, dietitians play an integral role on multidisciplinary teams in many specialty areas, both in the 675 bed inpatient setting, as well as in over 35 outpatient clinics.
RDs participate in research and quality improvement projects, host dietetic interns, and are supported in pursuing leadership and community service experiences.
Continuing education opportunities are plentiful from within the accomplished nutrition team and from the health system which values ongoing training and education.
This full-time, 40 hr/wk position will join our pediatric team of 17 RDs.8 hrs/week will be in the Pediatric Intensive Care unit (PICU), 8 hrs/week in the inpatient pediatric acute care unit and 24 hrs/week in pediatric home health.
The pediatric RD will assess, advise, monitor and document nutritional plans and progress in these areas, working with another PICU/inpatient RD.
The RD will round with the medical team several times per week and be involved in teaching residents and precepting dietetic interns.
The RD will participate in quality improvement projects. Obtaining CNSC (Certified Nutrition Support Clinician) or similar certification is strongly recommended within two years of hire.The outpatient pediatric nutrition support role at the UVA home health agency (Continuum) includes coordinating home nutrition support and/or oral intake with monitoring of home enteral nutrition orders, formula recipes, and communication with families and outside providers as needed.
