    Accepting both NP and PA applicants

    Note: This position is for two hour shifts/week, 6:AM-:PM. Monday-Sunday rotating schedule with one weekend every 8 weeks.

    Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant provides comprehensive health care to patients in various states of health or illness in collaboration with one or more physicians using guidelines agreed upon with physicians. Practices medicine as part of the Physician directed team in those areas directed to do so by their physician group. Provides care to patients in various states of health and/or illness under the scope of practice developed with their physician group. This role develops and implements direct care to Acute Care Surgery (Emergency General Surgery, Trauma, Critical Care) patients in collaboration with an attending physician. Provides direct care on the in-patient service along with the ambulatory clinic setting. This role encompasses direct patient care, wound care, educational teaching for residents, clinical research and quality improvement initiatives.

    EDUCATION:

    For PA: Graduate of an ARC-PA (or its predecessors) accredited Physician Assistant (PA) program. Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred. Certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) required. Must be licensed or eligible for licensure by the Vermont Board of Medical Practice.

    For NP: Registered nurse who has successfully completed formal education program approved by the Vermont Board of Nursing, or state or national accrediting agency which prepares nurses to function in advanced nursing practice. Must also be certified by national certifying agency recognized by the Vermont State Board of Nursing.

    EXPERIENCE:

    Previous experience as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant desired. Prior Acute Care Surgery/Trauma and/or General Surgery experience preferred.
