    Position Overview

    We are currently looking to add a dynamic Civil Engineer to our passionate team of Transportation and Roadway Engineering professionals. Responsible for the design of roadway engineering projects involving geometric, hydraulic, pavement, intersection, lighting, and traffic design.

    4. Assist in the entitlement process with conceptual and preliminary layouts.
    5. Assist in the planning and design of roadway engineering projects involving geometric, hydraulic, pavement, intersection, lighting, and traffic design. Strong understanding of ODOT and local regulations.
    6. Preparation of design calculations including roadway management plans per local, state and federal regulations.
    7. Preparation of signalization studies and experience with noncomplex and complex roadway design.
    8. Preparation of contract documents including project specifications and quantity/ cost estimates.
    9. Preparation of as-built plans for final project approvals.
    10. Assist in managing projects through local, county, state, and federal permitting and compliance with other regulatory requirements
    Competencies

    1. Problem Solving/Analysis.

    • Ability to make independent decisions based on sound engineering judgment and experience.
    • Ability to apply knowledge to a variety of assignments.

    2. Technical Capacity.

    • Experience with stormwater regulations and practices
    • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
    • Experience with MicroStation.
    • Proficiency with OpenRoads Design is a plus.
    • Noncomplex roadway design experience. Complex roadway design is a plus.

    3. Communication Proficiency.

    • Ability to guide junior-level staff on objectives, critical issues, and concepts.
    • Ability to interact with internal staff, reviewing agencies and customers as needed on project-related issues.

    4. Collaboration Skills.

    • Will consult with superiors on unique, unusual problems and developments
    • As experience expands, will play a role in collaborating on new or improved techniques and procedures on complex projects and assignments.
    Duties

    Work Environment
    This job operates in a professional office environment.
    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
    This is a full-time position, with a minimum expectation of 40 hours per week. Hours can be flexible based on circumstances. There may be a requirement for overtime based on workload.
    Travel
    No overnight travel is anticipated for this position. Some occasional local day travel may be necessary.
    Required Education and Experience

    1. Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university.
    2. Minimum years of roadway design experience
    3. Understanding and implementation experience of ODOT and/or local standards
    4. AutoCAD Civil 3D experience required
    5. MicroStation and OpenRoads Design experience preferred
    6. Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification, is required. (PE) Certification is preferred.
