- Executes land surveys to establish legal boundaries of property.
- Researches the area or assignment, including previous surveys and boundary lines.
- Prepares and maintains data, charts, plots, records, documents, legal descriptions, sketches, maps, and reports related to land surveys.
- Records all results, including dimensions of land or land features, location, contour, shape, and elevation.
- Interprets survey data and calculates geodetic measurements to determine shapes, positions, and elevations of geomorphic and topographic features.
- Uses geodetic and engineering instruments to establish fixed points to create maps.
- Uses satellite-based global positioning systems (GPS), theodolites, levels, and transits to determine longitudes and latitudes of important boundaries and/or features in the survey area.
- Collaborates with engineering and architectural staff, clients, and other invested individuals to review and coordinate findings.
- Performs minor adjustments on surveying instruments to maintain accuracy.
- Maintains knowledge and understanding of federal, state and local surveying laws; rules, regulations, and county ordinances; and policies, procedures, and best practices relative to land surveying.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent mathematical skills to conduct land survey analysis.
- Thorough understanding of the principles, practices, and procedures of land surveying.
- Thorough understanding of federal and state laws related to land surveying and subdivision of land.
- Proficient with computerized mapping technologies and surveying instruments, and the computer applications and software used to process field data.
- Bachelor's degree in Land Surveying or similar field required.
- Licensure by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) or comparable certification required.
- Current registration in the State of Alaska or ability to acquire within 1 year.
- Minimum eight (8) years of Land surveying experience
- Proficient with AutoCAD Civil 3D and survey data collectors.
- Ability to perform field to finish surveying.
- UAV flight and data processing experience desired.
- Municipal and ADOT survey experience desired.
- ADOT Right-of-way mapping experience desired.
- Airport Aeronautical surveying experience desired.
- Willing to travel to remote Alaskan communities for short periods.
- Capable of working in adverse weather and terrain conditions.
- Resourceful, adaptable and problem solving skills.
- Hard working, positive can do attitude and career orientated.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.

We are expanding, and our survey group is looking for an experienced Land Surveyor. We seek a highly motivated individual.
The CRW survey group is a cohesive team that works well together. The preferred person is someone with the knowledge and ability to work independently to complete a project while simultaneously managing other projects utilizing available junior staff. This is a full-time, permanent position in our Anchorage Office under the direction of the Survey Manager.
Our survey department has our own stand-alone clients and provides surveying services for our in-house engineering departments' projects. Our clients include government and private clients throughout Alaska and parts of the US. We perform boundary and subdivision plats, topographic, right-of-way, ALTA, hydrographic, UAV Aerial, and laser scanning surveys.
Projects include airport improvement, road improvement, water and sewer, drainage and site improvement, schools, restaurants, bike paths, power plants, bulk fuel, water treatment plants, airports, military facilities, flood modeling, and riverine and coastal erosion.
We use Leica GPS, robotic and laser scanning surveying equipment, Leica and DJI drones, and Sonarmite DFX echosounder hydrographic equipment. We also use Leica Infinity, Cyclone, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Pix4d, TopoDOT, ArcGIS Pro, and other miscellaneous surveying software.
