    Default job background
    Description

Are you ready to build America's clean energy future with the team that will deliver? Form Energy is an American energy technology and manufacturing company.

We are pioneering a new class of iron-air batteries to enable our electric grid to run on renewable, reliable, and affordable energy, every day of the year.

Form Energy has been recognized by TIME as "One of the Best Inventions of 2023" for its battery technology and by MIT Technology Review as a "Top Climate Tech Company to Watch".

We are making rapid progress on our mission of delivering energy storage for a better world, and are growing just as rapidly to meet demand.

We have signed contracts with leading electric utilities across the United States.

Pilot production of our iron-air batteries has already begun, and later this year, production will take off to high volumes at our new factory in West Virginia.

Working for Form Energy is more than just a job, it's a chance to be part of something extraordinary.

Driven by our core values of humanity, excellence, and creativity, our team is determined to deliver on our mission and transform the energy landscape for the better.

Role Description The Cell Engineering team within the Technology group at Form is multidisciplinary and focused on delivering qualified battery cell designs that meet operational performance targets, at cost and with high reliability, from controlled processes on high-volume manufacturing lines for Form Energy's utility-scale multi-day energy storage system.

We're hiring an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Cell Engineering Design team in Berkeley, CA.

In this role, you will design components and assemblies for fluid handling systems critical to our iron-air battery cell design.

You will drive the analysis and requirements definition for fluid handling components, with an emphasis on managing mixed-phase flow. Subsequently, you will own the component and assembly designs that meet requirements, from concept to high volume production. Critically, this role will require hands-on verification testing to prove that fluid handling systems meet all requirements. Additionally, you will contribute to process specification for sheet metal forming and welding operations in critical manufacturing processes. You will bring expertise in analysis and design of fluid handling systems, with a solid foundation in fluid mechanics. Drive the analysis, modeling, and design of fluid delivery systems for implementation in Form Energy's iron-air battery cells
Own prototyping and testing efforts for fluid handling; Produce and release detailed 2D part and assembly drawings; define technical specifications (dimensional, functional, performance, manufacturing)
Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field; Bachelor's with 5+ years, or Master's with 3+ years with industry experience
Expert in designing fluid delivery systems, with strong foundation in fluid mechanics
Experience executing testing to verify critical function of fluid handling systems
Excellent communicator across a range of engineering and business functions
