    Description

    POSITION PURPOSE:

    Tasked with assisting in the efficient organization and management of the nursing department, ensuring top-notch nursing care is provided while taking on delegated responsibilities from the Director of Nursing.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION:

    • Supervising the assignment and scheduling of nursing staff to adequately meet resident needs
    • Providing nursing care during shifts when required
    • Collaborating with medical staff
    • Addressing nursing service issues
    • Implementing company forms, systems, policies, and procedures
    • Overseeing the maintenance of accurate records of nursing, medical, and related services
    • Validating the accuracy of MOS and Care Plans
    • Supporting facility policies and programs to enhance staff understanding and acceptance
    • Participating in the facility's quality improvement program
    • Conducting in-service and orientation programs
    • Reviewing physician orders regularly and engaging in the triple check process
    • Assisting with Director of Nursing responsibilities when needed
    • Supervising and evaluating the implementation of Residents Rights
    • Supervising RNs and LVNs
    • Participating in periodic in-services and staff meetings
    • Performing additional assigned duties

    EDUCATION/ REQUIREMENTS:

    Seeking individuals with a minimum of two (2) years of previous nursing experience, particularly in geriatric long-term care, or a similar combination of education and experience. Must hold a valid nursing license in the state of employment.
