    Job Description

    As a Test Engineer in the Power Electronic Systems & Components team, you will be joining an innovative team on the cutting edge of power electronics technology for electric drive vehicles and next generation power electronic modules for stationary applications. You will have the opportunity to perform testing and contribute to the development of power electronic components.

    The power electronic component team is responsible for end-to-end design and development of power electronics for multiple Caterpillar applications, and you will have the opportunity to support the 20+ strong team in New Technology Introduction (NTI), New Product Introduction (NPI) & Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) in a way that leads to robust products that meet documented performance requirements leading to stable production.

    Typical task breakdown:

    •Working with the validation engineer & product design team to define test & validation requirements.

    •Developing test and validation plans for components and assemblies

    •Performing lab tests to validate components from a performance and product quality perspective.

    •Analyzing and documenting test data

    •Communicate results and make recommendations to customers, suppliers, team members, and other business units

    •Identifying and troubleshooting hardware and software issues

    •Validating and implementing product solutions

    •Documenting findings in technical reports

    •Maintain technical currency

    •Support component testing at various test facilities (Mossville AC, PPG, TC-G, etc.)

    Education & Experience Required:

    Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with 8-10 years experience required OR Master's Degree with 5-7 years experience.

    *Desired Skills: Electrical Engineering Degree, High voltage testing, writing test reports, test planning and setup.

    Technical Skills (Required)

    • Advanced ability to perform details calculations to compute and establish manufacturing, construction and installation standards and specifications. Advanced ability to make sketches, engineering drawings and common computations. Advanced ability to apply principles of electrical theory to engineering projects. Previous experience with computer applications and design software related to engineering field.
    Soft Skills (Required)
    • Creativity, verbal and written communication skills, analytical and problem solving ability. Team player and detail oriented. Strong leadership and mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback. Displays attributes of a critical thinker and leverages innovative ideas.
