:Position Title: Assistant Center Supervisor
Program/Location: Wellness Center "Life House" – Atascadero
Position Summary
The Wellness Centers provide a place where individuals experiencing mental illness can enjoy a true sense of community. TMHA Wellness Centers create a welcoming environment designed to serve multiple age groups with a focus on community connection, wellness, recovery, advocacy, independence, and empowerment. Members learn new wellness tools and strategies to achieve personal goals while discovering that recovery can be a shared journey. The Assistant Center Supervisor for the Atascadero Wellness Center is responsible for assisting the Center Supervisor with the organization and direction of the Wellness Center designed to assist adults in their journey to mental health wellness & recovery, as well as connecting members and participants to their community. This position promotes trauma informed wellness, recovery, empowerment, advocacy for the members and participants and is responsible for having knowledge and skills in all aspects of the Wellness Center. The Assistant Center Supervisor will uphold and promote the Center philosophy as well as the philosophy of TMHA in all duties performed. The Atascadero Wellness Center philosophy focuses on the individual person, their journey to wellness, providing education, empowerment, and support to help the person live the best life they choose to live.
Hours/ Salary
Full-time, non-exempt position. 35 hours per week. Anticipated hiring range is $22.50-$23.50. Includes a generous individual benefits package that includes health, dental, vision, life, 403b retirement (with up to a 5% employer match) paid vacation/holiday time, paid sick time and a variety of helpful employee perks as well. (*Full Salary Schedule $22.50-$24.75 per hour).

Responsibilities and Duties:
Supervises Person-Centered, Recovery based supports designed for life enrichment, personal development, empowerment, advocacy, peer support, community resources, recovery education, social skill development, and various wellness workshops, for adults with mental illness.
Ensures that Services provided by the Atascadero Wellness Center is gauged for multiple age groups, and various cultures with focus upon, mental health recovery, independence, advocacy, and empowerment. Based on member input, the Assistant Center Supervisor also ensures that the SLO Wellness Center offers social support, skills training, recreation activities, and assistance with independent living skill development.
Encourages all members to take an active role in the running of their center, facilitates the development of peer-run activities, and includes members in program decision-making on all levels.
Connects members to various community resources (including all TMHA Programs in SLO County & N. Santa Barbara County). Basic resources include transportation, volunteer opportunities, center leadership opportunities, social activities, education, training, etc.
Provides Curriculum Based Workshops on an ongoing basis to members and participants. Curriculums to include: prevocational skills, goal setting, social skills, self-expression, critical thinking, positive thinking skills, budgeting skills, coping skills, symptom education, recreation skills, physical health education, problem solving, nutrition education, depression education, anxiety education, self- awareness, teamwork skills, money management, cultural awareness, interpersonal skills, meditation & relaxation education, and self –esteem.
Promote, encourage and maintain trauma-informed practices in all services and activities. Practice and promote, both individually and in team meetings, TMHA's Collaborative Communication Guidelines in order to facilitate clear, empathetic and person-centered communication.
Completes documentation by following standards set by the County Behavioral Health Department and TMHA.
Works with the community to eliminate the discrimination and stigma associated with mental illness as well as educating the community on aspects of wellness, recovery, and peer advocacy.
Is responsible for assisting Center Supervisor with providing training, coordinating schedules, and providing support to Atascadero Wellness Center volunteers, interns, and staff members.
Provides guidance, support, and problem solving to members, interns, volunteers, peers and staff. Leads by example and empowers staff members to grow and expand their abilities and knowledge.
Functions as a role model of wellness, recovery, empowerment, and advocacy to members and participants with regard to training, communication, and work behavior.
Meets with and communicates program issues to the Center Supervisor regularly.
The Assistant Center Supervisor works as part of a collaborative team with peers, members, volunteers, interns, lead coordinators, case managers and the staff of other agencies.
When the Center Supervisor is not available, the Assistant Center Supervisor will attend the Clinic Joint Staff Meeting Monthly to advocate for Atascadero Wellness Center services and to continue to build a strong connection with the Mental Health Clinic.
Participate in Outreach Community Activities to educate the community on Wellness Center Resources and ways of eliminating mental health discrimination and stigma.
In conjunction with the Center Supervisor, communicates both positive and constructive feedback clearly and in a timely manner with staff, documenting when necessary. Remains approachable and open for staff to communicate problems or ask questions.
Represents management positively and takes ownership of policies when enforcing them. When questions or issues with management arise, they are directed to management for resolution. Accepts constructive feedback from supervisor, manager, and others.
Facilitates group discussions, classes, support groups and activities as needed.
Assumes other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Center Supervisor and Program Manager.
Works in collaboration with the Peer Advisory and Advocacy Team(PAAT) and the Area Peer Advisory Council(APAC) linking members and sharing resources and information.
Job Environment:
Moderate, physical activity and frequent driving; may include moving or lifting up to 25 lbs.
Involves moderate risks which require safety precautions and the risk of exposure to challenging situations.

Minimum Requirements:
Completion of High School or equivalent.
Some college coursework, and experience working with a psychiatrically disabled population, preferred.
Strong interpersonal skills, collaborative work style and strong oral, written, and communication skills.
Well defined organizational and time management skills.
Ability to work independently and flexibly.
Attendance is an essential function of this job that requires face-to-face interaction with clients and/or other employees.
Ability to handle intense situations, display good judgment and decision making skills, and remain calm and clearheaded under pressure.
Ability to work well within a team and maintain a professional, respectful attitude in the workplace.

Conditions of employment include:
Must be at least 18 years of age; possess a valid CA Driver's License, reliable transportation, proof of auto insurance, and DMV driving record that meets TMHA's current vehicle insurance requirements. May be required to utilize personal vehicle and auto insurance.
- Must comply with a TB assessment (possibly a TB test if needed to confirm a negative tuberculosis result) and receipt of a criminal record clearance through fingerprinting.
- Must be able to successfully complete First Aid and CPR training.
