    Closing Date: 5/10/2024 11:59 PM EasternEmployment Opportunity Under the direct supervision of the Lieutenant, the Investigative Support Analyst is responsible for researching, analyzing, and compiling information from various sources to create crime pattern advisories and intelligence reports related to criminal investigations.

    Essential Functions of Work Analyzes information from various sources to identify crime patterns, methods of operation, and the identification of suspects.

    Enters information into and performs searches of computer databases.

    Prepares crime advisory reports for both internal and external consumers to include maps and charts to illustrate locations and frequency of events.

    Analyzes text messages, cell tower data, call detail records, and other digital information to identify suspects and criminal activity. Prepares documents for court presentations. Maintains contact with other law enforcement agencies to exchange information. Researches social media and other open sources for suspect and crime pattern information. Review and research tips received from the public. Assist with new hire background information at the direction of a background investigator. Completes investigative progress reports to update case information. Attends meetings and briefs agency leadership on specific crimes and crime patterns. Attend agency and position specific training. Performs other duties as assigned.

    Typical Qualifications Associate's degree from an accredited college or university with a focus on criminology, sociology, data analytics, or related field.

    One year experience working with a law enforcement or military agency conducting research, analysis, and writing detailed reports, or working in a related field with equivalent experience and training.

    Possess or obtain a valid Ohio driver's license. Ability to successfully pass an extensive background investigation. Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing. Skilled use of Microsoft Office and other investigative software platforms. Ability to effectively use technology related to current business standards; computers and software related to positions and profession.

    Ability to communicate with the public, peers, superiors, and other City officials and employees in an effective, tactful, and courteous manner.

    Ability to maintain confidentiality in the handling of sensitive events and issues. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors and peers.
    Work Conditions Office setting with limited travel. Primary hours are daylight with weekends off. Flexibility in duty hours for the scheduling of special events or major criminal investigations.
    Full-Time Employees (Non-Union) HEALTH BENEFITSEmployees are eligible to enroll in health insurance, vision, and dental benefits. Benefits start the 1st day of the month following the employee's start date. LIFE INSURANCEThe City pays 100% of the premium on a $100,000 life insurance policy for employees.

    RETIREMENT PENSIONThe City contributes 14% monthly toward retirement benefits offered through the Ohio Retirement System (OPERS) and the employee contributes 10%.

    VACATIONEmployees accrue two weeks of vacation in their first year of employment. The City recognizes prior Ohio public service to establish vacation accruals.

    Vacation Accrual Rates 1 Year - 3.1 hours per pay period (80 hours per year) 5 Years- 4.6 hours per pay period (120 hours per year)10 Years- 6.2 hours per pay period (160 hours per year) 15 Years- 7.7 hours per pay period (200 hours per year) PERSONAL LEAVENew Employees receive one personal day for every four months employed.

    These days are to be used within the calendar year. HOLIDAYSThere are 12 holidays recognized by the City. SICK LEAVEEmployees accrue 3.1 hours of sick leave per pay period for a total of 80 hours per year.
