    Position Summary

    The City of West St Paul is hiring a full time End User Support Technician.

    Provides technical support; installing, maintaining software applications and functionality of the City's Information Technology systems. Provides technical assistance for end-users, assist server administration and implementation of IT related projects and tasks.

    Primary Duties
    • Serves as the first point of contact for staff needing technical assistance.
    • Logs and monitor computer support requests to improve efficiency/productivity.
    • Troubleshoots problems with computers, mobile devices, wireless technology, Local Area Network (LAN) connections, VOIP and software functionality.
    • Installs and configure hardware and software applications.
    • Performs remote and on-site troubleshooting through diagnostic techniques.
    • Performs routine maintenance on applicable hardware/software.
    • Create detailed procedures and documentation.
    • Maintain and update technology inventory.
    • Assist with the design, implementation and administration of Microsoft Windows Systems and other infrastructure projects.
    • Other duties as assigned by IT manager.
    Minimum and Preferred Qualifications

    Minimum Requirements:
    • Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a computer related field or two years of experience troubleshooting hardware, software and server administration.
    • Possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
    Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    • Knowledge of installing and troubleshooting networked PCs including operating systems, hardware, peripherals, and related devices in a domain environment.
    • Knowledge of:
      1. Multiple Operating Systems to include: MS Windows, Android and iOS.
      2. Active Directory & Group Policy.
      3. Antivirus/Malware Applications.
      4. VPN Technologies.
      5. Information Security Practices.
      6. MS Office Suite.
    • Knowledge of VOIP and/or manage phone systems.
    • Monitor and document software licensing, system configurations, and related system information.
    • Comprehend and follow instructions and procedures provided through correspondence and directives.
    • Communicate in a professional, transparent, non-technical manner with users.
    • Use reasoning abilities through moderately complex situations using good judgement.
    • Utilize time management skills and establish streamlines processes and procedures.
    • Ability to remain seated and standing for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift. and carry 45 pounds. Must be able to bend, push, pull, kneel and reach.
    • Take direction from senior team members.
    • The ability to occasionally work limited hours on nights or weekends.
