    Heartwell Renewables is a unique joint venture between affiliates of The Love's Family of Companies and Cargill to produce and market renewable diesel.

    Heartwell Renewables is the only entity of its kind to both manufacture and distribute this fuel all the way to the retail pump.

    The Love's Family of Companies, Cargill and their affiliates have entered this unique 50/50 joint venture to produce and market renewable diesel – a green fuel experiencing strong, rising demand.

    The joint venture will result in the construction of a new production plant in Hastings, Nebraska. There will be an excess of 500 workers during construction and more than 80 permanent jobs in Hastings, Nebraska. The plant will have the ability to produce approximately 80 million gallons annually of renewable diesel.

    JOB PURPOSE AND IMPACT
    The Process Safety Engineer will apply technical knowledge to help drive plant success.

    At Heartwell renewables we are committed to creating and continuously improving a best-in-class PSM program, thus this is a critical position on the team.

    In this role, you will report directly to the Facility Manger and will be able to take ownership for the Process Safety Management (PSM) program for the location.

    You will be responsible for updating and maintaining the guidelines and elements of the Process Safety Program while partnering with plant operations, safety, and maintenance to ensure compliance of the programs.


    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
    Champion a culture of Process Safety excellence for the facility

    The Process Safety Engineer will be responsible for the Risk Management Process at the facility and data collection for any Quantitative Assessment (QRA) tools, PHA, HAZOP, HAZID, What if, etc.

    The Process Safety Engineer will monitor and continuously improve the site PSM Process
    Will be involved in all aspects of PSM at the site including PSM document control, PSM Audits, and leading Process safety investigations
    Will provide technical expertise to site operating units to evaluate risks and cost–effectively resolve process safety issues
    Lead Process Safety reviews, including Process Hazards Analysis (PHA), and Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA)
    Lead and drive the Risk Assessment Screening for the Management of Change Process (MOC) and ensuring process effectiveness and compliance for the site
    Collaborate with operations during the design of advanced process control Systems
    Select the correct mechanical integrity level for safety critical devices
    Support site team in implement Process Safety improvements while delivering effective and efficient Process Safety trainings as required
    Other duties as assigned


    Requirements:

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering degree
    Experience managing or participating in site Process Safety programs
    Must be legally eligible to work in the US without sponsorship
    Minimum of 2-10 years of Engineering Experience Supporting Facility Operations or Project Execution
    Willing to relocate to Nebraska and work on site in Hastings, NE

    Comfortable working in an industrial work environment that may include loud areas, work at heights, entry into confined spaces, and other potential chemical/atmospheric hazards that require use of appropriate PPE.


    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
    Knowledge of and experience with the management of change process
    Experience managing or participating in site PSM programs
    Experience creating complex tests and analysis
    Strong quantitative, analytical and incident investigation skills
    Experience in Renewable/Bio Diesel, H2 production through Steam Methane Reformation, Oil and Gas Industry, Vegetable Oil refining, Hydro processing and or a PSM regulated facility
    Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OSHT) and/or Associate Safety Professional (ASP)

    Lead and ensure all production and operating processes operate safely and in compliance with regulatory and organizational safety and environmental program standards and goals.
