    Mass General Brigham is seeking an exceptional candidate to serve as Vice President, Digital Research.

    Reporting directly to the Chief Information and Digital Officer and a key member of the Digital leadership team, the Vice President, Digital Research will enable and accelerate biomedical research and discovery through the provision of exceptional technology and data services to researchers and investigators.

    The Digital strategy is centered around the experiences for its four key stakeholders – Patients, Care Teams, Researchers and Employees.

    The Vice President, Digital Research will lead the Researcher Experience portfolio, working in collaboration with the Business Advisors (CAO and Research leaders), their teams and the respective platform owners within Digital.

    They will build and maintain the technology strategy and roadmap to create maximum potential for Mass General Brigham to operate efficiently and effectively, whilst also delivering an outstanding Researcher proposition.

    MGB is a global leader in scientific and medical discovery due to its unique position caring for 2.5 million patients annually across 16 hospitals operating together in a single system that includes world-leading academic medical, psychiatric and rehabilitation centers affiliated with Harvard Medical School.

    The Vice President, Digital Research, is accountable for delivering technology and data services to meet the needs of the Research function, including data and analytics, technology infrastructure, Cloud, AI/ML, data sharing, devices and software tools.

    They will advance research through leveraging enterprise platforms, technology innovation and world-leading industry partnerships.

    Principal Duties and ResponsibilitiesStrategy & Roadmap:

    • As part of the Digital leadership team, contribute to the development of the digital strategy for Mass General Brigham
    • Partner with Research and Digital leaders to deliver a strategic plan and roadmap for Research, including infrastructure and high performance computing capability, and creation of a universal data platform to advance the translational and clinical research mission
    • Continuously monitor external and internal factors changing the research landscape, including technology innovation, the changing regulatory environment and advances in medical research
    • Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture to maintain the business capability model and target architecture for the Health Research & Education domain, working to rationalize systems through consolidation onto strategic platforms in the Cloud
    • Work with the Digital PMO to secure the funding necessary to deliver the strategy and roadmaps

    Research Partnerships:

    • Build partnerships with MGB research groups, understanding the diverse range of needs and working together to build short, medium and long term demand forecasts for technology and data services
    • Serves as a key advisor to the CAO and senior Research leaders on Research technology and data capabilities and opportunities to advance medical research outcomes
    • Deliver expert support to Research groups throughout the grant lifecycle, from one-off 'consults' to providing embedded capability in large grant-funded programs
    • Partner with Research groups on grant submissions and healthcare/industry collaborations

    External Partnerships:

    • Work with strategic technology partners and other external parties to bring innovation and collaboration opportunities to MGB Research groups and ensure the needs of MGB drive their product roadmaps
    • Work with Supply Chain on contract lifecycle activities (negotiations, renewals, audits, etc)

    Platform Operations:

    • Design demand management and self-service functions with a focus on operational efficiency and delivering an outstanding Researcher proposition
    • Continuously look for opportunities to increase value derived from and usage of enterprise platforms
    • Manage all aspects of technology operations in alignment with ITIL best practice, including incident, problem & change management and maintaining performance, resilience and patch levels
    • Ensure all platforms, applications and assets are cataloged and maintained and roadmaps reflect lifecycle management
    • Drive efficiency in products and services, such as self-service, in order to keep direct and indirect costs as low as possiblePlatform Governance, Project &

    Portfolio Management:

    • Manage platform governance, involving key stakeholders across business teams to oversee platform performance, prioritize new demand and review project status
    • Create, manage, and share an overall research data product and service scorecard which articulates the value of the work undertaken
    • Lead the Digital Research Experience portfolio of investments, working with colleagues across functional and Digital teams to identify and prioritize opportunities to improve Researcher experience.
    Support the Digital Investment process by delivering roadmaps, tracking delivery progress and spend against budgets and giving visibility to leadership through quarterly 'Deep Dives' and Advisory CommitteesPlatform Development:

    • Manage the pipeline of new demand, balancing resources, dependencies, budget and risk accordingly
    • Manage projects and programs to deliver new technology or enhancements/upgrades to existing systems and platforms
    • Lead technology evaluations to meet new demand and onboard new technologies as required
    • Adopt Digital best practice development methodologies, including agile where appropriate

    People Development:

    • Managing ~$15-20M operating and capex expense, plus additional project budgets as agreed
    • Manage dedicated Research platforms and collaborate with the Data & Analytics and Cloud/infrastructure services teams
    • Directly manage ~40 staff and indirectly manage in excess of 100 people across Digital contributing to delivery of services to Research
    • Attract and retain qualified talent and provide leadership development, corrective action, etc.
    • Work collaboratively with MGB Digital PMO and Human Resources to assure effective and efficient business practices
