    Job Title: Academic and Accreditation Support Specialist

    Join the University of Hawaii at Hilo as an Academic and Accreditation Support Specialist, a crucial role in supporting academic initiatives and ensuring compliance with accreditation standards.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Serves as the primary point of contact for digital media and presentation support, assisting the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs with graphical communication, website maintenance, and ADA document compliance. Runs data reports on programs and colleges as needed.
    2. Provides essential support for the Accreditation Liaison Officer (ALO), scheduling core competency assessments, maintaining program review schedules, running statistical analyses, reviewing student data, and assisting in developing and proctoring assessments as required.
    3. Acts as webmaster for institutional accreditation pages, collaborating closely with the ALO to ensure accurate and compliant content. Works with faculty members to maintain assessment and program review pages within the accreditation website.
    4. Coordinates ADA Accessibility and PDF remediation projects for the Academic Units at UH Hilo, adhering to Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 standards. This involves creating accessible websites, publishing reports to WSCUC, and facilitating self-studies and assessment reports.
    5. Prepares campus logistical support for on-site WSCUC accreditation visits, including IT support, scheduling, transportation, accommodations, and other related duties.
    6. Offers IT assistance to college accreditation/assessment-related reviewers.
    7. Delivers direct support and training to users on Commonlook ADA Section 508 Accessibility and PDF remediation projects pursuant to WCAG 2.1.
    8. Maintains webmaster support for UH Hilo Faculty Congress pages, working closely with congress committees to provide administrative assistance for record-keeping and document posting.

    Minimum Qualifications

    1. Holds a baccalaureate degree in Business Administration or a related field, coupled with two years of experience in supporting institutional accreditation, information technology, website design, and ADA document compliance. Alternatively, equivalent combinations of education and/or work experience can be considered.
    2. Possesses considerable knowledge of website design principles, practices, and techniques, as well as ADA accessibility requirements. Demonstrates expertise in applicable federal and state laws, regulations, and theories associated with website design and ADA compliance.
    3. Demonstrates exceptional problem-solving skills, using creative reasoning and logic to resolve complex issues accurately and efficiently.
    4. Presents information clearly and accurately in writing, verbally, and through reports and other materials.
    5. Establishes effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders, and individuals.
    6. Operates personal computers proficiently and applies word processing software.
    7. For supervisory roles, demonstrates leadership skills, prioritizes work, manages projects, and maintains employee relations.

    Desirable Qualifications

    1. Familiarity with ADA compliance software and methods for remediating documents for the web.
    2. Knowledge of WSCUC accreditation standards, program review, and data analysis methods.
    3. Proficiency with statistical software like SPSS (as separate from Excel).
