Description
JOB DUTIES
This role has a dual reporting structure to the WWFM Station Manager for daily support within WWFM and to the Vice President for Advancementfor purpose and consistency within Advancement.
The WWFM SeniorDevelopment Manager works closely with the WWFM Station Manager to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors and prospects in accordance with strategic goals and financial targets set by the Station Manager and theVP for Advancement.
Provides leadership and direction for membership staff and WWFM colleagues to convey the strategic goals and objectives and successfully leverage all available resources to implement fund raising plans.
Manages individual giving, major gift giving, corporate and foundation giving, and alternative revenue streams, which includes vehicle donations, corporate matches, and estate planning.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide strategic oversight of WWFM's major giving program (Continuo Circle) including prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship as well as goal setting and record keeping.
Identify and secure new revenue for WWFM through strategic planning/implementation goals as set forth by WWFM Station Manager and Director of Development.
Expand existing and new community partnerships for the benefit of new revenue and positive community relationships.
Manage all membership programs including organization, producing, and overseeing on-air membership campaigns, increase new member participation, boost donor retention, ensuring success of the Sustaining Membership program and increasing overall gift revenue, including estate planning (Perpetuo Circle).
Research, write, edit, or oversee the preparation of dynamic, persuasive, and well-crafted solicitations, proposals, case statements, reports, correspondence, e-correspondence and other development-related communication material in support of WWFM's fund raising activities.
Work with WWFM Membership Manager to oversee fundraising record-keeping databases and systems ensuring data accuracy, donor privacy, acknowledgement, program recognition and timely reporting.
Participatein strategic planning for WWFM, helping to identify fund raising implications and lead the development team's implementation of strategic objectives.
Represent WWFM in the listening community (locally), public radio community (nationally) and at conferences and meetings, as required.
Carry out development responsibilities in accordance with WWFM and MCCC policies .
Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
While this position has no direct reports, Director of Development will lead professional staff team to maximize productivity, creativity, and financial results through a variety of fund-raising tactics including direct mail, e-communication, underwriting, and on-air fundraising.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Media or Broadcasting related field; or an AS degree with five years' experience in non-profit fundraising.
Social media experience required, including proven knowledge of strategies to engage users, optimize content and increase visibility for radio network.
Database mining to source and engage sponsors, new members and programs of interest to bolster the prestige of existing members.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Development related employment experience at a community college or similar institution of higher learning.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of the principles of public radio fund raising and a demonstrated track record of success.
A high standard of professionalism and performance as evidenced by collaborative teamwork, initiative, critical thinking, good judgement, consistency of output, timeliness of follow-through and strength of written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to participate meaningfully and creatively in goal setting, long and short-term strategic planning and problem solving.
Strong organizational skills, including the ability to work independently and make sound judgements about prospects, project management responsibilities and all other areas of performance without close day-to-day supervision.
Demonstrated ability to source, use and adapt computer technology to the success of the position.
Must have ability and willingness to travel to prospective donor meetings and station outreach events.
Displays willingness to make decisions; Exhibits sound and accurate judgment; supports and explains reasoning for decisions; includes appropriate people in decision-making process and makes timely decisions.
Prioritizes and plans work activities; uses time efficiently; plans for additional resources; sets goals and objectives and develops realistic action plans.
