Environmental, Health & Safety Manager
to join Kaiser Aluminum Operations in Newark Ohio
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and championing all aspects of plant health and safety functions including implementation of existing corporate standards, best practices and managing audit processes to ensure continuous improvement.
Daily management and engagement of the line organization involving incident investigations, root cause analysis, control actions, industrial hygiene analysis, hazard control, and safe work practices.
Responsible for all short and long-term safety program strategic planning, including annual safety plans and injury reduction goals.Safety program management includes safety and health policy/procedure administration, safety program audits and inspections, review and application of state and federal regulations and development of safety training to support prevention initiatives.
Act as liaison to Union Safety Representatives, co-chair joint Company/Union safety meetings and lead joint Union/Management prevention activities.What you will work on:
Walk the manufacturing for a regular basis to establish EHS presence and provide support.
Evaluate the facility for safety hazards and develops proactive strategies to address deficiencies.
Analyze and recommend solutions to unsafe acts or conditions that cause re-occurring accidents or illnesses.
Have knowledge and enforce compliance with regulatory requirements (ie. OSHA, EPA, FRA), including company EHS policies and procedures.
Conduct daily and monthly EHS meetings/trainings and schedule as needed, with a focus on Strategic Road Map compliance.
Write, implement and manage EHS programs, policies and procedures. Update/revise safety training data, safety and health manual and safety reference information.
Communicate safety information.
Maintain safety and health records (including OSHA recordkeeping).
Ability to oversee hazardous waste storage area and ensure regulatory agency compliance i.e. labeling, containment, proper disposal, documentation, etc.
Ensure compliance with the hearing conservation and respiratory protection.
Develop, train, and maintain effective emergency response teams to ensure proper measures are taken in the event of an emergency.
Assist with emergency response provide first aid treatment.Coordinate and conduct the injury review process to determine and correct root causes.
Provide Worker's Compensation support.
Ability to evaluate PPE requirements, purchase appropriate/required PPE and ensure proper use and maintenance of the PPE.
Create and implement contractor worksite safety program and conduct audits against Kaiser Aluminum standards and regulatory standards. Conduct contractor audits to ensure compliance.
Requirements
What you will bring to the position:
A Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field, OR equivalent relevant experience is required. Advanced degree is preferred.
Seven plus (7+) years of EHS experience is required.
Solid verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
CSP, CPEA or equivalent Certifications are a plus.
