    The essential job responsibilities of the Environmental Engineer III are to apply environmental/ engineering principles in the planning, design, and operation of electric, gas and water utility systems and associated facilities, conduct/ analyze environmental studies; make recommendations to alleviate deficiencies and / or make system modifications.

    Analyze electric, gas and water systems and associated facilities for compliance with environmental regulations; provide technical consultation to management.

    Provide research/ alleviation measures for contamination or environmental problems for electric, gas and water utility systems and related facilities; answer media questions and state MLGW's position publicly as required.

    Develop and assist in external research projects and environmental impact assessments with other governmental agencies, colleges, and universities. Represent MLGW in environmental matters at federal, state, and local regulatory hearings/ meetings; make formal presentations. Stay abreast of the latest federal, state, and local environmental regulations. Attend various meetings/ seminars/ conferences and serve on committees concerning environmental issues. Prepare various environmental reports as required. Perform other duties as directed.


    To perform the Environmental Engineer III role, you must:

    • Have a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil, Chemical, General, or other related engineering degrees.
    • Must have four (4) years' professional experience or experience will vary according to departmental needs.
    • Must have ability to apply environmental/ engineering principles/ methods to electric, gas and water system planning, design, application, operation, construction, and safety; oral/ written communication skills; public relations skills to speak before large groups/ media; diplomacy/ tact when dealing in problem resolution situations; organizational ability to plan, formulate and carry out programs/ policies; and ability to work with a diverse population.
    • Must have a valid driver's license from state of residence

    Physical Working Conditions:

     Works in office majority of time. Subject to construction hazards while making field inspections.
