    The Behavioral Health Department comprises the Outpatient clinic, Project Reward, MST, and IICAPS. Multisystemic Therapy (MST) is an intensive, in-home, community-based treatment for adolescents with antisocial and/or delinquent behaviors. It is family driven with primary focus on empowering caregivers to better manage current challenges and prevent future challenges. Families are full collaborators in the treatment process and delivery is focused on the parents as the long-term agents of change. MST works within the network of systems including: family, peers, school, and neighborhood. Drug testing is completed at intake and throughout treatment as indicated by the model.

    MST serves children between the ages of 12 and 17 and all referrals are made through the Connecticut Department of Children and Families (DCF) or the Court Support Services Division (CSSD) of the Judicial Branch.

    The MST Clinician has direct responsibility for clinical services and supports provided to families referred to the MST program. The Community Based Therapist is responsible for implementing interventions to decrease substance use, increase prosocial and interpersonal connections, improve school attendance and performance, and improve overall family functioning.

    • Provide treatment in individual families' homes in a wide array of settings and communities
    • Carry a caseload of about 5 families & provide clinical services intensely multiple times per week for 3-5 months per case
    • Engage in weekly case planning and evaluation of case progress, with ongoing support from your supervisor and team members
    • Engage in intensive training and supervision to learn how to effectively implement the MST model
    • Engage primary caregiver and other key participants in active change-oriented treatment by identifying and overcoming barriers to engagement.
    • Utilize an array of evidence based clinical skills including cognitive behavioral techniques, pragmatic family therapies, family systems theory, behavioral therapies, social ecological model, marital therapy, and contingency management
    • Conduct a thorough assessment of the client and family: gather information on behaviors of concern and strengths in the family and their ecology to inform conceptualization of the problem behaviors and interactions within the family's ecological context.
    • Maintains rotating on-call availability to clients 24 hours per day, 7 days per week

    Requirements:

    1. Bilingual – Spanish preferred
    2. LCSW, LPC. LMFT licensure (will consider applicants who are eligible to obtain LMSW or related license within 120 days of hire)
    3. Minimum of one (1) year post-graduate experience
    4. Knowledge of the MST model preferred
    5. Familiarity with DBT, CBT and/or other evidence-based practices
    6. Must be flexible, oriented to family work and possess the ability to adapt to the MST model
    7. Must have a valid Connecticut State driver's license and access to reliable transportation.
    8. Must have awareness of the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of clients served
    9. Must be able to work with diverse populations and be willing to provide home based services if necessary
    10. Demonstrate maturity, professionalism and self-awareness, a non-judgmental attitude, the ability to deal with resistance and rejection, cultural competency and the ability to work independently and under challenging conditions
