    Director, Operations has overall responsibility for one or more manufacturing facilities. Directs all aspects of production activity at the assigned plant to ensure that the desired quantities and quality of products are manufactured on schedule in a safe manner at minimum cost. May be responsible for Accounting, Human Resources, EHS, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and other staff functions.

    Major Position Responsibilities:
    • Directs the organization's operations function and develops operational programs, policies, and processes.
    • Oversees recurring or daily functions or processes necessary for business execution and identifies opportunities for improvement or efficiencies.
    • Develops strategies meant to assist the business in meeting its critical goals and objectives in the most efficient manner possible.
    • Approves and allocates resources based on business priorities.
    • Leads and directs the work of other employees and has responsibility for personnel actions including hiring, performance management, and termination with concurrence from HR & General Managers.
    • Primarily responsible for strategic planning, direction, and goal setting for the department or function in alignment with organizational objectives.
    • Establishes, evaluates, and recommends changes to departmental policies, practices, and procedures that have a significant impact on the organization's long-term success.
    • Consistent exercise of discretion & judgment
    • Provides leadership to managers and may also have professional staff.
    • Must have at least one manager level direct report
    • Is accountable for the performance and results of multiple related teams
    • Develops departmental plans, including business, production and/or organizational priorities
    • Decisions are guided by resource availability and organizational objectives
    Basic Qualifications:

    Education and/or Experience:

    • Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree preferred in Business Management or Engineering
    • 10-12 years of experience in a relevant function

    Must Have Major Competencies/Skills:

    • Industrial Manufacturing experience
    • Proficient operational and financial acumen
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to develop and mentor others. Decision-making skills. Leadership skills. Oral and written communication skills. Problem/Situation Analysis. Statistical knowledge. Conceptual thinking skills.
    • Where applicable, experience with government owned/contractor operated location facility management, performance work statement requirements, and associated DOD requirements, such as DODM 6055; If site manufactures or works with energetics / explosives, must have experience with energetics safety and DOD M.

    Physical Demands:

    • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
    • Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
    • Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.

    Travel:

    • Less than 25% travel likely.
