    Job Description: Arcadia University is looking for an Accounting professional who would like to become a member of the dedicated team of professionals who are passionate about financial operations and focused on growing sponsored research portfolio and providing excellent faculty/staff support in the implementation of grant awards.

    Post Award Grants Accountant performs accounting work for sponsored awards and supports the work of the Director of Sponsored Research & Programs, as well as the Director of Purchasing and Contracts on all post-award financial-related tasks from award set-up in the financial system through close-out. The individual understands and remains current in applicable federal regulations and agency policies and procedures for compliant financial management of sponsored awards including 2 C.F.R. Part 200 as well as generally accepted accounting principles. The Post Award Grant Accountant ensures institutional compliance with award terms and conditions and applicable institutional policy; ensures that financial reports to sponsors and principal investigators / project directors are accurate and provided in a timely manner. The individual manages sponsored programs financial data and ensures its integrity and accuracy.

    Responsibilities:

    Essential Functions:

    Evaluates post-award financial systems and procedures and identifies strategies and practices to promote efficiency and workflow including the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and financial reports related to post award financial administration
    Works collaboratively with Finance, IT, and other departments to design and implement regular financial reports for campus use in managing sponsored awards
    Identifies, defines, and resolves issues related to post award grant or contract activities in accordance with federal and state regulations and institutional policies and procedures
    Ensures compliance with all federal and state regulations pertaining to sponsored programs administration
    Makes prudent, consistent, and independent judgments and decisions regarding compliance with institutional policy as well as federal and state regulations governing post award grants and contracts
    Ensures responsible subaward management
    Ensures University compliance with effort reporting procedures in support of personnel compensation on sponsored projects
    Provides guidance to faculty and staff on post award issues such as applicable regulations, interpretation of sponsor post award guidelines such as allowability of expenses, or other financial questions related to sponsor programs
    Reviews pre-award budgets and justifications for accuracy and allowability of costs
    Monitors grant expenses, ensuring allowability and adequacy of documentation
    Maintains records and files per University and sponsor's records-retention requirements
    Regularly and consistently monitors fiscal activity on grants for cost compliance
    Submits requests for reimbursements to sponsors and handles drawdowns, and prepares financial reports for sponsors
    Monitors and corrects account transaction activity
    Evaluates cost transfer forms for proper documentation and approvals of cost allowability in compliance with sponsor guidelines for journal entries and HR actions
    Provides regular projections of grant account expenditures
    Responsible for the development and dissemination of training programs including face to face and online training for faculty and staff pertaining to responsible financial management of sponsored awards
    Serves as a university expert on OMB Uniform Guidance 2 C.F.R. Part 200 and other regulatory rules including Generally Accepted Accounting Procedures and Government Accounting Standards Board as they relate to post awards grants administration
    Assists faculty and staff in the appropriate management of grant accounts
    Leads grant closeout, overdraft resolution
    Reviews invoices for processing
    Assists with collection or analysis of financial data as required for audit requests, special report request, proposal development, etc.
    Prepare year-end, audit-ready grant workpapers and coordinate year-end close processes for grants.

    Qualifications:

    Minimum Requirements:

    Bachelor's Degree in finance, accounting, or related field with a minimum of three years of relevant experience.
    Preferred Qualifications:

    Advanced knowledge of sponsored research regulations including Uniform Guidance
    Excellent computer skills
    Effective interpersonal skills and strong communication (written and verbal)
    Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
    Exceptional judgement, strong analytical and critical thinking abilities, time management skills
    Knowledge of advanced financial operations principles
    Demonstrated experience in financial research administration and grants management accounting
    Commitment to excellent customer service
    Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and process large amounts of information
    Experience in the following applications: to have knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics (Great Plains) and also a working knowledge of the Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and also the Google suite (Gmail, Calendar, Google Drive).
