Job description
We're looking for a detail-oriented video editor to help us process and refine a library of client-provided video content for use on a website.
We have multiple projects like the one on offer here. If we're impressed by results then we will look at establishing at least three other contracts.Project Overview
We will provide a master folder (via download link) containing two types of video content:
Type 1 – Primary Videos
Mostly complete videos with audio. Many are usable in their current form but contain unnecessary sections (e.g., logo intros/outros, talking head segments, extra takes).
Type 2 – B-Roll Footage
Includes establishing shots and multiple takes. Some clips run long at the beginning/end and may contain redundant footage.
You will be asked to work on Type 1 first, as much of the core editing has already been done.
- Extract Short, High-Impact Clips
, 20 seconds), extract only the most visually engaging moments — such as:
Smiling
Natural interactions
Positive expressions
Lifestyle/environmental shots
We do not need narrative content or talking-head sections.
These clips will be used as subtle, looping background visuals on a website (similar in feel to a GIF, but delivered as video files).
Each extracted clip should:
Be short and visually clean
Avoid logo intros/outros
Avoid awkward transitions
Feel natural when looped
- Deliver Two Versions of Each Clip
For every extracted clip, provide:
Version A – Standard Loop Version
Cleanly trimmed clip
Designed to loop naturally when uploaded (no harsh jump cuts)
Version B – Boomerang Version
Edited forward + reversed to create a seamless back-and-forth effect
Should create the illusion of an endless loop
No need to configure looping behavior — the website will auto-loop
- Export & Optimization Requirements
Required Specs:
Format:
MP4
Maximum file size: 30MB (smaller is better)
Resolution:
720px on the longest edge for smaller in-page videos
1920px for hero videos
Aspect ratio:
As required for best visual result on site
Bitrate:
Approx. 1,500–3,000 kbps
Codec:
H.264 preferred (Apple ProRes 422 source files are fine, but final exports should be web-optimized)
File size efficiency is important — balance quality with performance.
- Frame Exports (Important)
For each final edited clip:
Export every frame as individual JPEG images
Organize frames into clearly labeled folders matching the clip name
This allows us to reuse still imagery across the site.
Organization & Naming
Please:
Maintain a clean folder structure
Use descriptive filenames (e.g., woman_smiling_chair_standard.mp4, woman_smiling_chair_boomerang.mp4)
Keep outputs from Type 1 and Type 2 footage clearly separated
Ideal Candidate
Strong eye for identifying engaging micro-moments
Experience creating seamless looping website background videos
Comfortable optimizing video for web performance
Organized and detail-oriented
If you've worked on website background loops, hero videos, or social micro-content before, please include relevant examples in your proposal.
Contract duration of less than 1 month.
