    The Early Interventionist provides assessment and intervention services to assist families in fostering the growth and development of children, birth through age two, who have been identified as having developmental delays by the state coordinating/funding agency, Tennessee Early Intervention Systems (TEIS).

    Work is typically performed in the family's home or within natural settings in the community, such as preschool or child care environments.

    Developmental consultation and support is offered within a family-centered, strength-based philosophy and approach.

    The Early Interventionist will participate as a team member to support the development and implementation of Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) for families in the Memphis and Shelby County Tennessee area.

    8-20 hours per week, scheduling and location varies.

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to sit and talk or hear, speak and write clearly and type. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; and reach with hands and arms to position clients.
    • The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; and often stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls.
    • The employee must often lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.


    The usual noise and vibration level in the work environment is moderate, as would be expected in an office setting.


    In the process of conducting home visits, the employee may be exposed to many different home environments and rapidly changing traveling conditions.

    Minimum Position Qualifications

    Minimum Position Qualifications:

    Must hold a baccalaureate degree (or higher) in early childhood special education, early childhood education, child and family studies (child development), early intervention, or related field.

    Related field means a degree in deaf education or visual disabilities, special education K-12, elementary education, communication disorders and speech language pathology.

    Social Work, nursing and psychology degrees are not considered related fields.

    Must be able to independently control own workflow and actively contribute support to team members.

    Must have valid driver's license and private, fully insured vehicle.

    Must have TB health screening with negative results and complete an FBI fingerprinting process prior to employment. (Cost of these requirements are the responsibility of the applicant).

    Required competency with laptop computers, iPads, and Microsoft Office. Background check and sex offender registry clearance prior to employment.
