    SureScan Corporation is seeking a driven individual majoring in Computer Science or Computer Engineering to join our team as an Intern for the Summer of 2024.

    The position will be based in Binghamton, NY.

    SureScan Corporation is a growing high-technology company that provides Aerospace Security Solutions globally. SureScan manufactures, sells, and services the SureScan x1000 explosive detection system and other related products.

    Our mission revolves around customer-centric innovation and close collaboration amongst clients and partners to anticipate and meet evolving demands. SureScan provides an excellent opportunity to gain real-world experience in the Aviation and Medical industries.

    The Intern will work with our Engineering and Quality Teams to build internal tools for logging, analyzing, reporting, and graphing data.

    Data sources may include free form text or logs that must be parsed.

    The Intern may automate the processing of equipment log files, parsed to the types of fault codes that our customers see when using our equipment.

    Daily work may include quick fixes to existing methods and processes while working towards long-term robust solutions.

    The position requires the Intern to research and develop solution proposals, present them to the team(s) and exhibit a productive autonomous work style while executing the approved plans.

    The ideal candidate will possess a solid foundational knowledge of Computer Science/Computer Engineering principles, and have interpersonal skills that allow effective collaboration when proposing and presenting solutions to the team(s).


    Key Responsibilities:


    Test and verify code functionality
    Write programs to automate various processes
    Daily fixes to existing methods and processes working towards long-term robust solutions
    Track and maintain an activity log to present to leaders periodically regarding completed work


    Education & Experience:


    Enrolled in bachelors or higher engineering degree program
    Rising Junior or Senior majoring in Computer Science/Engineering


    Minimum Qualifications:


    Must be proficient in reading and writing the English language.
    Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
    Excellent organization skills
    US Citizenship required, as we are an ITAR facility


    Desired Qualifications:


    Working Knowledge of open-source databases, Linux, and web development for interfacing and reporting to databases
    Working knowledge with regular expressions
    Experience with at least one of the following programming languages:

    python, VHDL/Verilog (Optional), C, C++, C#, Java
    Experience with programming of FPGAs and ability to read, modify and compile code for embedded devices (Optional)


    Work Environment and Physical Demand:

    Must be able to work in front of a computer for several hours.
    Must work on site, will interact with engineers and attend relevant meetings
    Work in a manufacturing environment. Ambient noise from equipment and servers will be present.
    Comfortable working in an environment where x-ray equipment is manufactured and tested. Equipment produces x-ray radiation, which is monitored and controlled to meet strict safety regulations.
