    Job Description

    SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY:

    The Direct Support Staff is responsible for overseeing all resident care and maintaining the residence.

    WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

    The Direct Support Staff reports to the Manager and Lead Direct Support Staff for job responsibilities. Builds relationships with Residents, Manager, Lead Direct Support Staff, co-workers, Agency Nurses, Agency Behaviorist, residents' family and/or guardians, Healthcare Consultants, DDS employees, and members of the community.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. High School diploma or GED required.
    2. Attain and uphold medication certification.
    3. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    4. Demonstrates maturity, good judgment, and ability to handle sensitive information.
    5. Proficient in First Aid, CPR, PMT, Abuse/Neglect, DDS Medication Administration, and specific medical and habilitative needs of residents. Must attend all required in-services and staff meetings. Adherence to agency policies and procedures.
    6. Competent in basic computer skills, experience with electronic health records preferred.
    7. Hold a valid Connecticut Driver's License and be eligible for Network, Inc.'s auto insurance.
    8. Physically able to assist participants when needed (lifting, using approved adaptive equipment, physical restraint techniques).
    9. Proficient in the electronic health record system THERAP.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    **1. Provide direct resident care according to individual plans and document activities as per regulations, including:

    • ADL
    • Individual plan goal activities
    • Socialization
    • Development and communication skills
    • Interpersonal relationships
    • Self-preservation skills
    • Habilitation skills
    • Personal hygiene
    • Transportation
    • Being a positive role model
    • Leisure and recreation skills
    • Cooking skills development
    • Implementing behavioral plans

    **2. Assist with routine residence maintenance as needed.

    **3. Safeguard and manage residents' belongings and funds.

    **4. Maintain proper resident and residence electronic health records including:

    • Resident status assessments
    • Daily task analysis charts
    • Inter-staff communication in T-logs
    • Medication administration
    • Resident attendance
    • Residence maintenance records
    • Other directed records

    **5. Assist with meal preparation as required.

    **6. Participate in staff in-service and meetings.

    **7. Respect residents' rights and relevant legislation.

    **8. Adhere to residence policies and procedures.

    **9. Actively participate in team duties.

    **10. Ensure resident and record confidentiality.

    **11. Provide coverage for colleagues' absences, including emergency staffing needs.

    **12. Perform any other necessary duties.

    Thursday 6:00am - 12:00pm
    Friday 6:00am - 12:00pm
