Dental Hygienist

Location: Catawba Service Unit located in Rock Hill, SC

Salary: $41/ hour

Schedule: Three 8-hour days per week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday), 8:00 am – 4:30 pm with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break

Responsibilities:

Conduct preliminary dental examinations on new dental patients.
Review patients' medical and dental history for evidence of past and present conditions.
Examine teeth and surrounding tissues for plaque, periodontal disease, and other abnormalities.
Inspect mouth and throat for evidence of diseases like oral cancer; interpret routine x-rays.
Refer abnormalities to the dentist and prepare dental hygiene treatment plans for patients.
Perform complete oral prophylaxis, deep subgingival scaling, root planning, and curettage under local anesthesia.
Polish teeth, apply fluoride, and provide home care instructions to patients.
Assist dentists in making repairs and adjustments to teeth.
Expose, develop, and process radiographs including bite wing, periapical, and panoramic x-rays.

Requirements:

Associate's Degree in Dental Hygiene.
Minimum one year of experience as a dental hygienist.
Proficiency in performing dental hygiene procedures and using dental equipment.
Knowledge of medical terminology and dental procedures.
Ability to operate x-ray equipment and process radiographs accurately.
Current malpractice insurance coverage.
