- Teaching food, nutrition, budgeting and food safety to workshop participants.
- Evaluation and documentation of nutrition programs and planning new initiatives.

- Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.
- Formal training beyond High School of 6 months -1 year with minimum 6 months' work experience - or equivalent combination.

- Ability to travel throughout NYC and work out of doors in a variety of weather conditions. Some evening and weekend work may be required.

The OpportunityThe Community Educator facilitates nutrition and health education workshops in the Bronx, Manhattan and Staten Island boroughs.

This is a full-time, 35 hours/week, one-year appointment with the possibility of extension depending on funding, available work, and successful performance.

You will shine in this role if you are familiar with the local communities and schools in the Bronx, Manhattan or Staten Island (preferably, you would have lived there for a while), you are passionate about the topic you are teaching, and you teach from your heart.
Having a general computer knowledge and familiarity with Power Point, Microsoft applications, and calendaring will aid greatly in the work you will do.
