    We have been engaged by our manufacturing and distribution client to find a top-notch Controller to join their team. They are a privately-owned growing business with an entrepreneurial culture. The ideal candidate will act as an internal business advisor as it relates to accounting and finance. They should have accounting management experience in a manufacturing and distribution environment.

    Description

    The Controller is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the company, ensuring the accuracy of financial records, compliance with relevant regulations, and providing financial insights to support informed business decisions. This role plays a key part in maintaining the financial stability and growth of our business.

    Responsibilities

    Financial Management

    • Oversee and manage the day-to-day financial operations of the business.
    • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to maintain financial integrity.
    • Monitor and control financial resources, including cash flow, budgeting, and forecasting.

    Accounting and Reporting

    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
    • Prepare and analyze financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
    • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

    Budgeting and Forecasting

    • Prepare and manage the annual budget, working closely with other departments to establish financial goals and targets.
    • Monitor and report on budget variances and provide recommendations for corrective actions.
    • Forecast revenue, EBITDA and profit values ongoing.

    Financial Analysis

    • Provide financial analysis and reporting to support business decision-making.
    • Identify cost-saving opportunities and areas for financial improvement.
    • Prepare financial reports for management.

    Internal Controls and Compliance

    • Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
    • Coordinate with auditors, tax advisors, and government authorities to ensure compliance with tax and reporting requirements.

    Cash Management

    • Manage the company's cash flow to ensure adequate funds are available for operational needs.
    • Invest excess cash and manage banking relationships to optimize returns.

    Payroll and Benefits Administration

    • Oversee payroll processing and employee benefit administration.
    • Ensure compliance with labor laws and tax regulations related to compensation.

    Risk Management

    • Identify financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
    • Establish insurance coverage to protect the business against potential liabilities.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
    • Proven experience in financial management and accounting, preferably in a small business or similar environment.
    • Manufacturing and distribution experience required. M&A experience preferred.
    • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations.
    • Proficiency in financial software and tools, including accounting software and spreadsheet applications.
    • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
    • Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
