- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with proper endorsement(s) - LBS I, School Social Work, School Psychologist, or Speech Pathologist; Administrative Endorsement (General, Principal, or Director of Special Education); Early Childhood Special Education (preferred)
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations regarding special education
- Knowledge of effective practices relative to programming for children with disabilities
- Oversee and support the daily activities and operations of the Preschool (PFA/ECE) program including early intervention transitions, screening, assessment, placement, and program improvement planning to assure high-quality early childhood experiences for all students
- Facilitate IEP meetings and ensure compliance with federal and state procedures
- Assist the Director of Student Services in developing and implementing district special education programs, processes, and procedures
- Supervise and evaluate certified and non-certified staff
- Work collaboratively with principals, teachers, pupil personnel services, and support personnel to monitor and analyze district and individual assessment data
- Assess the needs and provide staff development opportunities for certified and non-certified staff, including facilitation of department meetings
- Develop and monitor department budget in accordance with District guidelines
