    Mission of NCS
    Our mission is to provide the children of NCS with educational opportunities through a rigorous, comprehensive K-8 program that cultivates the intellectual, social and emotional development of each child. Our students, who include children with autism spectrum disorders, will become independent learners and critical thinkers, will acquire the academic skills that they need to succeed in college preparatory high schools and will exhibit the social and emotional skills that will allow them to reach their full potential.

    The Opportunity
    NCS seeks an enthusiastic, highly organized, knowledgeable, and consistent educator who has experience in K-8 urban education. We are looking for someone with prior leadership experience and someone who is excited by the challenge of working for a growing organization. This role is based out of our Harlem campus and reports to the K-5 ES Principal in The Elementary School Director will be responsible for the student achievement outcomes of all students in their assigned grades. Further, they will assist in fostering a strong Elementary school leadership team, ensure a positive school culture, and build a school-wide community with all stakeholders, including families.

    • Operate as ONE TEAM with all of NCS's Leadership staff
    • Be the model of excellence, consistency, reliability and enthusiasm for the staff and students you lead
    • Build relationships and trust with all Elementary school staff members
      • Create meaningful team building experiences with the staff
      • Spend time getting to know staff members one to one in an authentic manner
      • Communicate effectively and consistently with all team members to ensure clarity of vision and how to work together collaboratively
      • Ensure your team gets information in a timely manner, preparing at a high level for the student experience
    • Ensure strong outcomes for student achievement for all
      • Use data analysis to drive leadership and instructional decisions
      • Lead instructional team meetings focused on areas to develop and strengthen
      • Ensure students receive high quality instruction from teachers, receive feedback on their work, and have multiple attempts to learn and practice content and skills
      • Use and develop special populations knowledge and competencies in your team for the sake of all students
      • Promote differentiation and best practices as it relates to supporting all learners
      • Facilitate the social emotional learning of all students through systems and practices embedded throughout the day
    • Lead and facilitate a cohesive school team, supervising and coaching stakeholders to their fullest potential
      • Facilitate weekly team meetings to promote cohesion and coordination among the leadership team
      • Provide 1:1 coaching/accountability check-insas necessary, ensuring alignment to the vision and expectations for outcomes
      • Promote an open-door atmosphere for your staff to come to leadership at anytime
    • Design and promote a strong positive school culture
      • Model and uphold a high bar of excellence that permeates all aspects of Elementary school culture in grades
      • Ensure strong school-wide systems for arrival, lunch, recess, and dismissal
      • Design and execute tight attendance incentive and absence follow up plans with the culture and operations teams
      • Promote diversity, equity and inclusion throughout the school in both the aesthetic and the events and rituals in which the community can engage
    • Provide professional development for staff on the individual, small group and large group levels
      • Observe and provide feedback to teachers and staff aligned with the NCS vision
      • Facilitate small working groups of teachers and staff to develop skills with working with our students (e.g. data analysis groups, LASW, etc.)
      • Design and lead meaningful staff meetings that build team and provide information and initiative roll outs in a timely and clear fashion
      • Partner with other leaders in the organization to develop and lead professional development throughout the year
    • Build and strengthen the Elementary school community with all stakeholders, including families
      • Work with the Principal and other team members to ensure academic and cultural cohesion
      • Engage with the Parents Association as well as host other parent engagement events to inform and partner with families throughout the year
      • Partner with network-based colleagues to develop a strong and positive NCS educational experience for students and staff
    Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree, masters degree preferred
    • At least two years serving in a school leadership role required
    • Knowledge of an ASD student population and their learning needs
    • Strong writer, creator of documents, and an organized thinker that can build friendly tools for effective teacher instruction and school management
    • Experience teaching in a K-8 setting
    • Strong leadership skills; high level of emotional intelligence
    • Deep commitment to education and academic achievement
    • Impeccable organization skills and ability to prioritize and manage time effectively while working in a fast-paced environment

    Salary for this role starts at $125,000 and increases based on qualifications and experience.

    An experienced teacher leader with a minimum of 5 years of teaching experience and/or 2+ years of instructional coaching or leadership experience
    Minimum Bachelors Degree
    NY State SBL certification
