    About the team Stripe Terminal helps our users extend their online presence to the physical world.

    The Terminal teams mission is to make it as easy for businesses to accept in-person payments as the Stripe API has done for online payments.

    Stripe was founded to make it easier for developers to accept payments. Weve solved a small part of that problem, but our ambition is to go much further.

    What youll do Android engineers on this team will build and enhance applications, SDKs, and services that run on or communicate with physical Terminal devices.

    Build the frameworks for other engineers, both internal and external to Stripe, to develop on our custom platform with ease.

    Responsibilities Design, build and maintain Android apps and SDKs in Kotlin.
    Enable payment applications for a variety of devices and form factors.

    Work with engineers, product managers, designers, and stakeholders across the company to bring new features and products to Stripes Terminal users.

    Collaborate with Android developers who work on the Stripe mobile apps and Stripe Terminal to set best practices for Android development across the company.

    Work with user research and product design to understand users and address their needs.

    The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.1.5+ years of experience in Android DevelopmentExperience working with either Kotlin or JavaAbility or willingness to work in-office 50% of the week at one of our offices: San Francisco, Seattle, Chicago, New York, or TorontoPreferred qualifications - 6 years of experience in Android DevelopmentPayments expertise or knowledge(Bonus) Custom hardware experience on the Android platformYou prefer simple solutions and designs over complex ones, and have a good intuition for what is lasting and scalableThrive in a collaborative environment involving different stakeholders and subject matter expertsCan put yourself in the shoes of your users and be a steward of crafting great developer and consumer experiencesOffice-assigned Stripes spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users.

    This hits a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility about how to do this in a way that makes sense for individuals and their teams.

    The annual US base salary range for this role is $146,500 - $269,200.

    For sales roles, the range provided is the roles On Target Earnings ('OTE') range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role.

    This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidates experience, qualifications, and location.
