A Medical Laboratory Scientist is sought to support our client's medical facility in ST. Johns, Florida.

Responsibilities

The Medical Laboratory Scientist will be responsible for:

• Determining the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
• Performing routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
• Monitoring, operating, and troubleshooting instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
• Making technical decisions regarding testing and problem-solving.
• Preparing, testing, and evaluating new reagents or controls.
• Reporting accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care.
• Performing and documenting preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
• Identifying and replenishing testing bench supplies as necessary.
• Assisting with processing of specimens when needed.
• Maintaining a safe work environment and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment.

Education and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

• A Bachelor's degree in medical technology or clinical laboratory science.
• OR BS in Chemical, Physical, or Biological Science from an accredited college or university with at least 1 year of training or experience in the specialty in which testing will be performed.
• OR 90 Semester hours from an accredited institution that includes 16 semesters hours of Biology courses, 16 Semester hours of chemistry, and 3 Semester hours of Math, along with having completed an accredited Clinical Laboratory training program or 1 year of documented Clinical Laboratory Training.
• OR Associate's degree in medical technology.
