    Overview

    Job Purpose

    A Lead Test Automation Engineer must be results-oriented, self-motivated and have the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. This role requires frequent interaction with project managers, developers, third-party application vendors, product managers, sales and helpdesk professionals in order to ensure that we deliver a quality-trading platform to our users.

    The candidate will be tasked with understanding business and system requirements, database schemas, writing, maintaining, and executing automated test scenarios and logging and tracking defects when necessary. The candidate is expected to demonstrate a strong knowledge of software development design principles and foundational design patterns especially pertaining to functional test automation. In addition, candidate is expected to have strong awareness of software testing, including functional, regression, and system testing. The candidate should have good working knowledge of Java language ecosystem, CI/CD and source control concepts, and related tools and utilities. The candidate will also be expected to have strong SQL knowledge and is able to do data retrieval and aggregation for use in their automation test cases.

    Responsibilities

    • Performs complex Test Automation work with a focus on monitoring, administering, and ensuring adherence to coding and quality assurance concepts, practices and tools currently in place.
    • Exercise and advocate reasonable discretion in approach to solutions being promoted and developed, being cognizant of their impact and risk on the business.
    • Strong background in functional test automation with the ability to design and develop comprehensive automated test strategy and test cases using an existing and mature framework.
    • Manage and resolve routine and complex problems within their respective technology setting and facilitate solutions based on best practices and existing precedents.
    • Work with existing test automation team members to facilitate automation of a large set of existing manual testcases for a complex financial domain application.
    • Ability to perform root cause analysis and debugging on existing automated test scripts.
    • Ability to execute existing and new automated test scripts on a regular basis using programs that leverage Continuous Delivery/Continuous Integration frameworks like Jenkins and Test, Defect and Requirement management softwares like ALM and JIRA.
    • Work with quality assurance leads in enabling complex testing strategies multi-tiered based architecture.
    • Strong background in reviewing business, functional requirements, and test cases in order to produce a functional test automation strategy and test scripts.
    • Experience participating in all aspects of a full-lifecycle development methodology, and related quality concepts and processes.
    • Perform troubleshooting software / hardware configuration problems.
    • Ability to work well with team members and colleagues.

    Knowledge and Experience

    Must Haves:

    • Java - min 7 years of experience in Core Java or demonstrably strong knowledge and fluency in Core Java and Object-oriented design concepts (similar experience in C# is acceptable)
    • Selenium - min 4-5 years of experience using Java or C# bindings.
    • GIT - Strong knowledge
    • SQL - Strong knowledge
    • Maven - Strong knowledge (Knowledge of Gradle is acceptable and a plus)
    • Jenkins - Strong knowledge including creating and maintaining Pipelines via Groovy DSL.
    • TestNG - Strong knowledge
    • Very Strong Programming and problem-solving skills with the ability to write clean, maintainable code.

    Good to haves:

    • Understanding of Microservice architecture
    • Knowledge of Spring framework.
    • Proficiency in one or more scripting languages (VBScript, JavaScript)
    • Understanding of Webservice standards (REST, XML, JSON etc.)
    • Knowledge of Test/Defect management tools (HP ALM & Jira)
    • Must have demonstrably strong problem-solving, analytical, technical, and troubleshooting skills.
    • Experience in testing Java Swing and browser-based UI applications is preferred.
    • Track record of completing assignments on time with a high degree of quality.
    • Ability to set and adjust priorities and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
    • B.S. or higher in Computer Science or related discipline.
    • Ability to work independently and productively under pressure.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Strong organizational skills and decision-making ability.

    Schedule

    This role offers work from home flexibility of up to 2 days per week.
