    Job Description Summary:

    Dr. David Watkins' lab, a pioneer in understanding immune responses to viruses, is currently seeking a skilled Senior Research Associate to contribute to the development and testing of vaccines, diagnostics, and therapeutic drugs for various diseases, including cancers. The lab's focus extends to working with prominent pathogens like HIV/SIV, Dengue, Zika, Yellow Fever, Coronaviruses, influenza, and more under controlled laboratory conditions. This senior researcher role involves designing and executing experiments independently with a touch of creativity, making detailed observations, analyzing data, and sharing results. The position also involves documenting outcomes, preparing technical reports, assisting in publication efforts, and mentoring junior staff. The ideal candidate will perform diverse experiments such as cell culture maintenance, DNA extractions, PCR, protein purification, and flow cytometry analysis.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Performs mammalian cell culture and bacterial DNA preps.
    • Processes animal blood for immunological techniques.
    • Plans experiments aligning with research project objectives.
    • Assists fellow research scientists within the lab.
    • Contributes to manuscript and grant preparation.
    • Executes other related duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Applicants must possess a master's degree and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience. The degree must be completed by the position's start date.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Proficiency in immunology-based techniques like flow cytometry, ELISA, and bacterial cloning.
    • Experience in microbiology, immunology, biochemistry, or virology.

    Typical Hiring Range: Commensurate with Experience.
