    Zurich seeks a successful Workers' Compensation Defense Trial Attorney to work in our Fresno Staff Legal Office or fully remote in Northern California.

    The Attorney will represent the Company in all phases of Workers' Compensation litigation in Northern California. They will practice law in compliance with state law by preparing and defending moderate to high exposure Workers' Compensation cases from a challenging caseload.

    Responsibilities include working directly with claims professionals, providing legal analysis and advice, preparing and filing legal pleadings and documents, performing legal research, preparing for and conducting pre-trial discovery, and conducting post-trial activities.

    The attorney will work within broad limits and authority on complex assignments requiring specialized knowledge in breadth and/or depth in area of expertise.

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Juris Doctor and 5 or more years of experience in Worker's Compensation Litigation
    • Member in good standing of the California State Bar Association
    • Experience with Microsoft Office and Adobe
    • Experience working with Lexis or Westlaw
    • Knowledge of the insurance industry, claims and the insurance defense litigation legal environment
    • Knowledge of the law and procedure

    • Effective negotiation skills
    • Experience working in a team-based environment
    • Collaboration skills
    • Effective problem solving and analytical skills
    • Certified Workers Compensation Specialist designation desired

    The compensation for this role varies depending on factors including office location, skill set, and level of experience. The starting salary range for this position is $140,000.00 - $165,000.00.
