    Reinsurance accounting records transfer of risk transactions between the global AIG affiliates and external reinsurers.

    About the role


    We currently seek an Accountant who will be involved in recording various aspects of reinsurance and will report to the Reinsurance Manager.

    Process inter-company settlements with AIG's global affiliates:

    clear payables and receivables in subledger,

    process foreign exchange transactions,

    reconciling statement of accounts and prepare invoices

    post financial activity in the general ledger and subledger

    review aging of open balances monthly

    Monitor monthly financial interfaces and assist in the subledger monthly close process

    Assist in the quarterly GAAP & STAT reporting process

    Assist in AIG's accounting transformation project by learning new data warehouse systems, developing additional controls and accelerating the financial close

    Lead or participate in complex research and analysis to resolve reinsurance discrepancies and ensure transactions are in compliance with treaty agreements

    Document existing processes


    What you need to know:
    2+ years of accounting or finance experience

    BA/BS degree in accounting or finance or applicable reinsurance experience

    Experience in various aspects of the reinsurance process is preferred

    Must be willing to learn other business applications as needed to perform assigned duties effectively and efficiently

    Experience with general ledger systems such as SAP is preferred along with proficiency using other tools (MS Office applications, etc.)

    Must possess keen analytical problem-solving skills and be able to contribute in a fast-paced environment
