    Schedule: Full Time, Rotational

    FLSA: Hourly, Non Exempt

    The Structural Welder reports directly to the Welder Foreman or craft supervisor and is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of welding machines to join or connect various types of metal parts for metal structures. The incumbent selects weld equipment, interprets blue prints and determines which specifications to apply. Adheres to all HSE and Quality expectations established by the client and company.

    Essential Job Functions:

    • Interpret, analyze and construct blueprints and structural drawings
    • Adheres to applicable welding methods in completion of structural fabrications
    • Utilize manual and mechanical processes to weld in various positions
    • Calibrate welding tools and equipment according to welding procedure specifications
    • Clean and prepare metal work pieces using scrapers, chemical solutions and grinders to ensure a smooth and contaminant-free surface
    • Cuts, repairs, and assembles building components to form complete structures
    • Inspect and evaluate welds to ensure they are free of defect and adhere to specifications
    • Conducts post-welding activities such as grinding, cleaning, and polishing of work pieces
    • Adhere to all client and company quality requirements

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • High School Diploma, or Equivalent
    • Current and valid driver's license
    • Two (2) years' experience in oilfield fabrication and installation, preferred

    Required Education, Training & Certificates:

    • Attends training sessions, seminars and appropriate educational classes required by department.

    Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :

    • Knowledge of industrial structural welding methods and techniques
    • Knowledge of proper use of equipment such as; cutting torch, welding electrode, drill press, gas welding and welding electrode
    • Ability to successfully pass welding tests and perform the following welding processes, i.e. SMAW, GMAW and FCAW.
    • Knowledge of Hazardous Materials and Safety Regulations and industry practices related to equipment use and operation
    • Knowledge and experience in oilfield operations, preferred
    • Ability to cut, fit and weld structural components from drawings and sketches to meet client expectations.
    • Ability to follow instructions and communicate clearly

    The incumbent is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

    Visual Acuity: must be adequate to perform all required tasks in a safe manner.

    The noise level in the work environment is usually loud and may require use of ear plugs and/or ear muffs on occasion. Work condition is outside environment (job site/field site) that may have inclement weather conditions. The incumbent is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, vehicles and equipment.

    The employee must be able to physically travel by land and air within, and out of, the State of New Mexico.
