    Overview

    Reporting to the VP and General Manager, Paychex Insurance Agency, this role will perform varied new business development related activities to support the sales, revenue, and retention plans. Develops, sets strategy, and coordinates new business initiatives within Agency Sales, Product Management, Insurance Agency Operations and Marketing to expand market potential of the product lines. Responsible for understanding and developing a growth plan and engagement strategy for their designated carrier relationship(s). The Business Development Manager's ultimate objective is to increase client persistency and drive new business growth within their established carrier relationship(s). Directs the research and analysis of business opportunities, assesses potential markets, and develops projects for use in new business initiatives. Evaluates the financial feasibility of new products and markets through studies, market research and planning.

    Responsibilities
    • Functions as the primary Paychex Insurance Agency point of contact for the Companys P&C and H&B carriers. Maintains a deep understanding of market level insights. Accountabilities include new business development, contract, and compensation negotiations. 25%
    • Leads discussions across various business units to support the development of strategy and execution of solutions aligned with strategic goals and objectives. Responsible for making policy recommendations that affect Insurance Agencys Sales and Marketing functions positively, including any profitability improvements. Monitors carrier wins/losses and overall performance. 25%
    • Responsible for taking a lead role in feasibility assessments and due diligence of an Agency captive for P&C business. Expert on the designated carrier product portfolio(s). If deemed feasible, will be responsible for managing the Agencys performance. 20%
    • Prepares the capital and operating budgets for the cost center(s) and analyzes interdepartmental reports as they relate to the cost center(s). Achieves cost center projections through labor expense and administrative expense controls. 20%
    • Recruits, selects, hires and evaluates performance of personnel to ensure all department needs are handled appropriately. Counsels and develops staff for personal and corporate advancement through career development, training programs and other resources as required for professional advancement. 10%
    Qualifications
    • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration - Preferred
    • Master's Degree in Business Administration - Preferred
    • 10+ years of experience in Business experience in the Insurance industry.
    • 3 years of experience in Managerial experience or equivalent combinations of education and experience.
    • 4 years of experience in Marketing experience.
    • Demonstrates excellent judgment and decision making skills.
    • Possesses a high degree of initiative.
    • Ability to drive multiple projects to successful completion.
    • Strong mechanical skills.
    • Life Accident and Health license - Required
