    Amentum is seeking an entry level Field Geologist - Chemist at the William J Hughes FAA Technical Center (WJHTC) to support our environmental remediation and investigation work including soil borings, monitoring well installations, in-situ remediation injections, groundwater pump and treat, soil excavations, and groundwater/soil sampling.

    The Field Geologist – Chemist will also provide project chemist support contract.


    This is a full time, on-site position where the selected candidate will work on-site at the WJHTC in Atlantic County, NJ.

    Remote work may be conducted as available.

    Responsibilities

    Collecting water, soil, air, and soil gas samples.

    Overseeing monitoring and extraction well installations.

    Monitoring and oversight of in-situ remediation of soil and groundwater.

    Participate in the development of work plans and technical reports.

    Strong analytical and communication skills including the analysis of field data and reporting to clients and colleagues.


    Applicant will be involved in the day-to-day issues concerning coordination of analytical work with commercial laboratories, analytical data review, and problem resolution.

    Verify completeness of laboratory deliverables and resolve deficiencies with the commercial analytical laboratory.

    Validate environmental analytical data for compliance with method and project/project quality assurance/quality control requirements.

    Data validation will be conducted using a procedure that is based on the EPA's National Functional Guidelines or other procedures, as directed.

    Prepare electronic data deliverables for import of field measurements and analytical data to EQuIS.

    Basic Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree in environmental sciences with minor in geology. Strong chemistry background is desirable.

    Must be authorized to work in the United States of America, per federal contract requirements.

    U.S. Citizenship and valid driver's license required.

    MUST BE ABLE TO PASS a background check to obtain access to US federal property, per contract requirements.

    Minimum Knowledge/Skills

    Strong attention-to-detail with excellent analytical, judgement, and problem-solving capabilities.

    Good written communications and organizational skills.

    Experience using Microsoft Excel to manipulate and organize data sets for import into a database and for final reporting.

    Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (including Outlook, Word, and Excel).

    Work is performed in a variety of settings including an office and field environment and may involve some remote work from home.
